Singing about the holidays isn’t Lance Bass' only festive season speciality — he’s also a consummate party host!

As the holiday season approaches, the *NSYNC member, 44, tells PEOPLE that he’s looking forward to hosting friends and loved ones as he and his family celebrate.

“I host a lot of gatherings, Bass says while discussing his partnership with Maison Boursin Connection Collection. “Especially now that I have kids, it's hard to get out of the house too often. So, people come to my house, which I love.”

He shares that he and husband Michael Turchin — along with their 2-year-old twins, Alexander James and Violet Betty — have an “open door” policy at their home, and are constantly hosting gatherings.

“I love having people over,” Bass says, adding that his favorite event to host is “game nights, of course.”

When it comes to hosting, the “Bye Bye Bye” singer shares that his secret to success is targeting his guests’ stomach.

“Food is everything to me, and when I have a gathering, it always revolves around that food,” he says.

In fact, one of the events he and Turchin, 36, make sure to host annually is Friendsgiving, which Bass calls “our staple every year.”

“I love that because it's a potluck, and you get to really experience other people's holiday food. Because as a Southerner, I just thought everyone had the same dishes, you know? A green bean casserole, your turkey and dressing. But other cultures also have their own Thanksgiving.”

He shares that the first time he and his husband of nine years hosted Friendsgiving, he was shocked to find some of his guests bringing food that were far from what he’s used to eating on the holiday.

“The first time I ever had Thanksgiving in New York, I couldn't believe people had chicken parmesan. Like, what? This is not Thanksgiving. But it's so interesting to see what everyone grew up with for their holidays.”

As Bass looks ahead to this festive season, he acknowledges that things might look a little different than usual.

With "the strikes still going on, I might have a little more downtime," he says. "I will take advantage of that and enjoy the holidays a little more with the kids."

Being a father was always important to the singer, and now that he has two little ones, the holidays have taken on a new meaning.

"Holidays are so much better with kids," he says. "You really make the effort and you see the holidays through fresh eyes. You get to do those traditions that you got to do when you were a kid, and it just makes you so happy to see them so happy. The holidays are just so much more magical these days."
