Even Joy-Anna Duggar & Austin Forsyth Had Jitters After 15 Years of Friendship Before Saying 'I Do'

Like most couples, Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth had some pre-wedding jitters ahead of their nuptials last month!

On May 26, the pair tied the knot in front of a packed church full of family and close friends, and a day ahead of their wedding, 19-year-old Joy-Anna and 23-year-old Austin were full of smiles — and butterflies — as they prepared to make a lifetime commitment to one another.

“We are pretty excited about our wedding day tomorrow,” Austin said in a TLC video on the eve of their ceremony. “It seemed like it took forever to get here, but now that we did our rehearsal dinner for our rehearsal, it seems like it flew by.”

Although the couple had just one night left of the single chapter of their lives, Joy-Anna wasn’t feeling nervous the evening before her wedding — but she knew the nerves would eventually set in on her big day.

“I’m really excited, and not really nervous just yet. I think I’m just more excited to be married to my best friend,” said Joy-Anna.

“I’m sure I’m going to start getting nervous. I think he’s more nervous than I am right now though,” she added. “I’m probably going to be pretty emotional on our wedding day just because it’s a lot. I mean, you’re committing yourself to someone for the rest of your life.”

And to help in his preparation to become a husband, Austin received a key piece of advice that he plans to put to practice in his relationship with his bride.

“I think the best advice that I’ve gotten so far is just to sacrifice myself,” said Austin, who added, “Be willing to give myself for her and her needs and put her first.”

Following the ceremony, the couple — they got engaged just a few months after announcing their courtship on the special episode of Counting On: Jinger’s Wedding in November and were friends for 15 years before entering into a courtship — said in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, “We feel so happy and so excited.”

“Leading up, it was so surreal until I was walking down the aisle and then I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, it’s actually here.’ ” a teary-eyed Joy-Anna said. “We are going to be traveling for our Honeymoon for awhile.”

“A lifetime,” added Austin.
