MKH On Politics: The Sugar High Comes Crashing Down

MKH On Politics: The Sugar High Comes Crashing Down

FOX News Contributor Mary Katharine Ham fills in for Dana on this week’s edition of Perino On Politics and speaks with Republican strategist and co-founder of South & Hill Strategies Colin Reed to get his take on the 2024 presidential race.

Colin dissects how recession fears could impact the country's vote come November. Later, he discusses the strategy behind Vice President Harris's running mate pick and explains how the focus on Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) has highlighted the progressive divide within the Democratic Party.

Uphill Battle: This weekend, former President Trump held a rally in Georgia where he reignited his old feud with the state's governor, Brian Kemp. Colin emphasizes that campaigns need to focus on the future, not the past, and that the former President must avoid making the election a referendum on himself.

Can VP Harris Keep Her Sugar High?

Can VP Harris Keep Her Sugar High?

Vice President Harris and former President Trump are neck and neck in a cut-throat presidential race - but will the momentum stay the same in November? Founding Partner at Cavalry LLC and co-host of the Ruthless podcast Michael Duncan examines how things are heating up in the 2024 Election.

Dana and Michael discuss the veepstakes for Vice President Harris and Consider which possibilities will be most advantageous for her campaign. Later, Michael dives into the online presence of each party and provides his takes on the messaging tactics used in this election cycle.

Uphill Battle: There were frequent conversations about 'double hater' voters during the Trump vs. Biden match-up. Now that Vice President Harris entered the race, Michael explains why it's important to watch how moderate and Independent voters react to her political record to see if her candidacy impacts the enthusiasm gap.

Does Vice President Harris Get The Last Laugh?

Does Vice President Harris Get The Last Laugh?

Out with the old, in with the (sort of) new - President Biden has dropped out of the 2024
presidential race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. FOX News Radio Political Analyst Josh Kraushaar examines what's in store from the historic reshaping of the 2024 election.

Dana and Josh look back at the many seismic political shifts brought on over the last month and discuss the factors working in VP Harris's favor, as well as those working against her. Later, they examine the possibilities of who she may choose for her running mate.

Uphill Battle: Last week's Republican National Convention showcased a strong and unified GOP backing former President Trump as their nominee. Josh contrasts that with the division within the Democratic Party and how the infighting will pose a challenge for them going into November.

And Just Like That The Republican National Convention Starts

And Just Like That The Republican National Convention Starts

The Republican National Convention has officially kicked off in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the Republican base has gathered to rally around former President Trump as their party’s 2024 Presidential Nominee. Days after surviving an assassination attempt while speaking at a Pennsylvania rally, President Trump has prevailed as a pillar of strength—an image that a presidential nominee seeking re-election could only hope for ahead of their party’s convention. Meanwhile, on the other side of the aisle calls for President Biden to step down are being overshadowed, granting the President a slim opportunity to reassess how to move forward with his campaign.

FOX News Chief Political Anchor Karl Rove examines how the events of the Republican National Convention will fair for former President Trump and responds to growing whispers that the 2024 Election is now the former President’s to lose. Karl and
Dana also discuss how the 2024 Presidential Election will impact contentious
state elections as voters inch closer to November.

Uphill Battle: While the RNC pivots voter attention away from President Biden’s cognitive decline to President Trump’s mission to regain the White House, who’s message of political unity will resonate the best amongst voters?

Can President Biden Put Out The Flames?

Can President Biden Put Out The Flames?

With many Democrats calling for him to drop out, President Biden needs to keep his friends close, and his frenemies closer. FOX News Chief Political Anchor Bret Baier examines the waning support for President Biden from within his own party.

Bret and Dana discuss the possibility of Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the Democratic nominee and the problems it could pose for her party ahead of the election. Later, they analyze the state of former President Trump's veepstakes and share when they think an announcement will come about his running mate.

Uphill Battle: Though many point to Labor Day as the time when voters begin to take note of the election, Bret stresses that Americans are plugging in right now. With the CNN debate and inflation at the top of people's minds, it paints a grim picture for the future of President Biden's campaign.

    The Dam Is Holding...For Now

    The Dam Is Holding...For Now

Despite a lackluster performance at the CNN Presidential Debate, President Biden does not plan to drop out any time soon. Former White House Chief Deputy Press Secretary and Partner at FGS Global Trent Duffy explains why the Democrats' dam appears to be holding (for now), and why people are growing more distrustful of the White House.

The economy is the number one issue for voters, and President Biden has been unable to make Americans feel better about their financial circumstances over the years. Trent discusses why he believes it's too late for President Biden to change voters' minds on the issue, and why President Trump could face a tough economic transition if elected.

Uphill Battle: Former President Trump has the opportunity to gain some ground among independent voters, but to do so, he must focus on his vision rather than vengeance. Trent explains that if the former President can showcase his resume and a transition team, he may appeal to those who still have reservations about him.

Much better

Revised review from below.

Dana has tightened her format to the very best parts of an interview. Worth your time & subscription. Have become a regular listener.

———-

Wanted insight or analysis you can’t get somewhere else - wasn’t worth the time if you listen to Commentary, The Editors and Megyn Kelly regularly - a little boring - too safe - take some risks and have fun - share some nugget of gossip all the consultants are talking about that would not get reported normally but it’s impacting the race behind the scenes. I love dogs too - but does anyone really want to hear about a dog that lived in the White House twice? I want to hear instead about the diplomat that the dog peed on, and everyone joked about the story privately, but nobody tells it publicly - yet. I used to really enjoy Dana and Chris Stirewalt podcast so I’ll give Dana another chance in a week or two.
