Modify Aurora MySQL RDS db.t3.medium from mutiple-az back to single-az

Is it even possible to convert a Aurora MySQL RDS db.t3.medium from mutiple-AZ to Single-AZ? No clear documentation and when I try to modify the multi AZ instance, it has no option to switch from multi az to single az instance and not is done by Snapshot as well.

Hi,

Do you have the following option on the Modify page for your RDS instance?

Enter image description here

If yes, you have to switch Mirroring to No to get back to single instance.

I'd strongly suggest to backup your db before doint this change so that you can restore your current status if any issue arises.

Best,

Didier

Hi,

Thank you for asking your question.

In Amazon Aurora, Multi-AZ means that the Reader instance is launched in a different Availability Zone (AZ) from the Writer instance, and is used as the failover target. Therefore, if you change from Multi-AZ to Single-AZ, you will need to manually delete the Reader instance in order to configure it as a Single-AZ setup.

I hope this might help.
