- "You know, your home planet is very different from mine."
- ―Sabine Wren, to Ezra Bridger
The term homeworld,[2] also spelled home world or known as home planet, was applicable to many things. "Homeworld" could in some cases refer to a habitable moon[3] or a region of space, rather than a planet.[4] Pantora, the primary moon of Orto Plutonia,[3] was the homeworld of the Pantoran species.[5]
An individual's homeworld could be their place of birth. Dathomir was the homeworld of Maul and Asajj Ventress, who were both born there and called that planet their own home.[6][7] A homeworld could also mean a world on which a person was raised or otherwise significantly identified with it. The twins Leia Organa and Luke Skywalker were born in a medical facility in the Polis Massa asteroid field, but they were soon separated and were raised on the planets Alderaan and Tatooine, respectively, which became their homeworlds.[8][9] Zare Leonis came to think of Lothal as his adopted homeworld despite having been born on Uquine and not having moved to Lothal until he was fourteen years of age.[10] Jabba Desilijic Tiure, Ziro Desilijic Tiure, Greedo, and Hondo Ohnaka all had multiple homeworlds.[4][11][12] The Galactic Empire's Imperial Academy cadets were trained with an aim of removing cadets' loyalties to their homeworlds, as the Empire felt that such loyalties detracted from one's service.[13]
The term "homeworld" could also be used in the context of an organization, culture, or species. Moraband was considered the ancient homeworld of the Sith Order,[14] while Kashyyyk was the homeworld of the Wookiee species.[15] Lasan was the adopted homeworld of the Lasat species, and very few in the galaxy knew that that species' original homeworld was Lira San.[16]
