Juliette Binoche, The New Look
WHY SHE DESERVES A NOD: Over the course of the Apple TV+ drama, Binoche triumphantly weaved between the two extremes of Coco Chanel: the elegant, graceful outer self embodied in her fashion label, and the desperate, childlike inner self that became involved with Nazis. Binoche brought an intimate understanding to Chanel’s interiority that could have been lost on a lesser actress, effectively bringing her to life without avoiding her faults. She humanized Chanel, perfectly toeing the line between good and evil, despite conditions that could have easily turned her into a one-dimensional cautionary tale. (Not to mention: The woman sure knows how to throw a cranky-girl tantrum!) — Claire Franken
No Danai Gurira? That’s crazy
wouldn’t she be a limited series actress nom anyway?
Nope because they said they weren’t eligible for limited a while ago so they have to stick to drama
The TV Academy won’t let AMC submit as Limited Series for some stupid a** reason.
Danai Gurira, She was one of y’all’s performer of the week as well.
Thank you for remembering broadcast! Brava Carrie Preston as Elsbeth. It’s a wonderful character because of Ms. Preston. Excellent watch week to week, too.
I found Binoche one of the worst performance of the year.
Jennifer Aniston, Rebecca Ferguson, Ella Purnell, Angela Bassett and others were all more deserving
Oh my gosh! Noomi Rapace was just riveting in Constellation. A muted performance that just exuded emotion and confusion. I can’t tell you how bummed I am to hear that Constellation has not been renewed for a second season.
Kali Reis and Jodie Foster from True Detective Night Country deserve a shot too.
They would be in the limited series categories, not drama.
Not sure if this would be more supporting or not but I’m really liking Delaney Hayles in Interview with the Vampire.
“Showtime’s deeply uncomfortable cringe comedy was one of the wildest things we’ve seen in years — for proof, see the season finale — but Stone kept the whole thing grounded with a hilarious portrait of tone-deaf white privilege.”
Sorry, but why should Emma Stone be in the drama category if The Curse is a “cringe comedy” that she is “hilarious” in? I don’t watch the show so generally curious if there is a reason or if this is category fraud.
My nominees in this category would be:
Jennifer Aniston, The Morning Show
Carrie Coon, The Gilded Age
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor – Justified: City Primeval
Zoe Saldana, Special Ops: Lioness
Anna Sawai, Shogun
Imelda Staunton, The Crown
You’re forgetting Mariska Hargitay for SVU. 25 years as badass Captain Benson
That show was awful this year. She doesn’t deserve a nomination this time around.
Chyler Leigh from The Way Home is at the top of my list!
Exactly chyler deserves a nomination. The whole cast is so amazing, and the show deserves recognition.
Network programming is all but forgotten. There have been several special performances. Have 2 awards one for network and one for cable.
My vote would go to Rebecca Ferguson on Silo as well as Anna Sawai of course.
Why is The Curse being considered as drama when it was a limited series? Even if they claimed it may continue, it wrapped up bye the end of it’s run,
Elsbeth yes!
DANAI GURIRA for The Ones Who Live isn’t in your Dream List.
How?
H O W???
She better get that writing category at least. She did a great job writing an episode. She is an acclaimed writer. She got a lot of praise.
I would turn off my adblocker if your ads popping up didn’t make the browser on my phone go blank. If I try to let the ads play I have to refresh my browser at least 4 times for what should be a 5-minute read.
All the Emmys for Anna Sawai!
No Jodie Foster? You’ve got to be kidding.
