A rebuilt version of Alan Turing’s Delilah encryption system went on public display for the first time as part of a special event organised by his nephew – Sir Dermot Turing. Sir Dermot recently hosted the annual HistoCrypt event at Kellogg College, University of Oxford, Bletchley Park Trust and The National Museum of Computing. The three day event held last month was a focus on historical cryptology, which saw academic experts from across the world join VIP guests to see a showcase of artefacts and attend lectures. In recent years, HMGCC has been home to the Delilah Rebuild Project, run by a team of volunteers led by John Harper. The rebuild project was based on original notes left by Alan Turing and engineer Don Bayley. Our participation in HistoCrypt was the first time Delilah has been publicly displayed outside Hanslope Park. To find out more, watch our video. #HistoCrypt #HMGCC

Saturday 20th July, we opened our DEC UK 60th Anniversary Exhibition, a captivating installation marking the inception of Digital Equipment Corp's (DEC) presence in the United Kingdom, starting with the historic establishment of its first offices in Reading in 1964. In collaboration with Reading Museum, DEXODUS, and DECUS, this joint project funded by DECUS and @NHLF presents a unique opportunity to delve into the rich history of DEC UK. Featuring DEC systems from our reserve collection, artefacts, and memorabilia generously loaned or donated by members of the DEXODUS and DEC community, this exhibition offers an immersive exploration of the company's impact on the tech landscape. Discover interactive experiences and compelling storytelling, designed to bring the DEC UK story to life. We aim to highlight the achievements of DEC and the individuals involved, while showcasing the lasting legacy of DEC UK's profound influence on British technology. Through this showcase, we invite visitors to consider DEC within the broader context of technological innovation and inspire younger generations to pursue careers in tech. The exhibition will be open until February 2025. #ReadingMuseum Sean from Aspire Technology Solutions

Earlier this year some of our students took part in a national initiative called #AstroPi 🚀 (https://lnkd.in/diE6VSa), set up by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. Each student wrote 30 seconds of code that was sent up to the #InternationalSpaceStation on a #RaspberryPi and then ran in space during the month of May. Pictured is one of our students, Riley, with his certificate 😊 When asked about his experience, Riley said “it was awesome, because my code got sent to space. I like Ambassador Kids because I get to choose what I code and I love doing Minecraft education!” #STEM #TechEducation #Learning
