How important is transparency within a business in relation to Continuous Improvement? In my world I'm constantly speaking to senior Continuous Improvement figures and one topic of conversation that always comes up, is the struggle businesses can have in implementing a culture of continuous improvement. At it's core Continuous Improvement isn't just a set of methodologies or tools, it's a journey towards a culture of high performance. A drive from a business and everyone within to pursue excellence for themselves and their customers. Businesses struggling to implement these ideas/tools/methodologies really intrigued me to start asking why? Of course, going down a rabbit hole you can find many reasons but speaking to the people within businesses you find one common theme more than often and it's a struggle to bring everyone on the journey. That leads me to transparency - the old cliché is people fear change. What people actually fear is the unknown. If we don't understand the reason for change it can cause uncertainty. The most successful CI leaders create a culture that includes a few things: 👉 Employee Empowerment - Training and opportunities for all to be involved. 👉 Supportive Leadership - Providing support and guidance at all times is pivotal. 👉 Vision and Goal Alignment (Transparency) - Every employee, from the top to the bottom must understand where the company wants to go and why Continuous Improvement is key to getting there.
