All American Gutter Protection review 2024

All American Gutter Protection installs quality micro-mesh gutter guards.
Pros
  • High-quality stainless steel micro-mesh screen
  • Durable aluminum frame
  • Professional sales representatives
Cons
  • Unclear warranty terms
  • Unavailable pricing information
  • Inconsistent installation quality

All American Gutter Protection offers a high-quality stainless steel gutter guard and a host of secondary services, including gutter installation and repair. Reliable and experienced providers often install and repair water drainage systems in addition to new gutter guards.

We spoke to Kevin Brauer, owner of Storm Guard Roofing and Construction in St. Louis, Missouri, who emphasized that, as a rule, a gutter guard company should also install gutters. In the same way that a shingle is part of a roofing system, “a gutter guard is a part of a water drainage system,” he said.

While All American’s suite of services is impressive, it’s a smaller company with sparse information available online. With no pricing information and fewer than 70 testimonials, it can be difficult to determine if a company like All American is trustworthy.

We surveyed more than 230 All American customers to reinforce our research with firsthand data. We’ll share our findings in the review below to help you decide whether you should invest in its gutter guards.

Our thoughts on All American

We analyzed All American based on its gutter guard design, services, installation process, pricing, communication, warranty and customer responses. We scored it against our objective rating and review standards in each of these categories to award a total possible rating of 5 stars.

All American scored 4.2 out of 5 stars. It earned points for its gutter guard design, customer reviews and lifetime warranty, but it lost points in the services and warranty categories.

What we like

We like All American’s micro-mesh gutter guard, solid customer reviews and long-lasting warranty. Its guard features a stainless steel micro-mesh set into an aluminum frame. This design ensures the guard blocks large and small debris, including shingle grit and pine needles.

While All American has a smaller online presence and more limited customer reviews than other providers, it has overall positive customer responses. Customers note the professionalism of the All American staff, the product quality and the installation speed. In our survey, only five of the 230 respondents reported dissatisfaction with the sales representatives, and only three were dissatisfied with the guard’s performance.

Another bonus to choosing All American is its lifetime performance warranty. All American promises that your gutter guard system will function as described for the lifetime of your home under this warranty.

What we don’t like

All American provides some additional services but doesn’t offer all the services commonly available from gutter companies, such as gutter cleaning. Additionally, we spoke to a representative who stated that its downspout installation service can only be performed alongside full gutter installations or the replacement of multiple downspouts.

We find the lack of information regarding its prices and warranty concerning. All American’s warranty extends for the life of your home, but it doesn’t specify coverage, limits or customer expectations online.

All American has limited availability. If you don’t live in one of the 15 states it serves, you won’t be able to take advantage of its services. All American is currently only available in the following states:

  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Kentucky
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Wisconsin
  • Michigan
  • New Jersey
  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • Pennsylvania
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee

The final concern we have about All American is its lack of pricing transparency. Like many gutter guard providers, All American doesn’t offer cost information online. The company has limited customer reviews, and they lack hard data on pricing. This makes it difficult to estimate the cost of All American’s services without an in-person consultation.

Compare top gutter guard brands

All American gutter guard type

All American offers a stainless steel micro-mesh gutter guard. Its stainless steel screen and aluminum body are corrosion-resistant and durable, allowing it to last longer than unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (uPVC) or foam guards. It’s designed to have a built-in pitch and a secondary reinforcing screen beneath the micro-mesh layer. This design allows it to use water flow to self-clean and creates a sturdy system that resists impacts.

Most of the customer reviews for this product indicate it performs well. Customers were pleased with the effectiveness of the guard and its ability to reduce the need for gutter cleaning. Our survey results confirm this customer sentiment — a single respondent out of 230 noted dissatisfaction with the guard’s ability to block debris.

Micro-mesh guards work well in most climates to prevent the buildup of clogs and avoid water damage. Our team installed and tested micro-mesh guards as part of our do-it-yourself (DIY) product testing and reviews. We found that micro-mesh guards repel most debris, including shingle grit, pine needles, leaves and seedpods.

Micro-mesh guards have good drainage, with overflows only occurring in extremely heavy rain. While testing micro-mesh gutter guards, we applied water at varying speeds to simulate rainfall. We found that micro-mesh guards could handle a decent amount of rain, but heavy downpours resulted in some spillover. If you live in a cold climate, note that micro-mesh guards may ice over during winter.

Cost

Like most gutter guard companies, All American doesn’t provide cost information on its website. However, we noted some customer reviews that reported All American gutter guard pricing is competitive with similar products.

Our survey respondents shed more light on the cost of All American gutter guards. According to our results, the average total cost for a 200-foot gutter system from All American is $3,623.54, or just over $18 per linear foot — the unit of measurement used to measure gutter guard length. This price aligns with industry standards for micro-mesh systems. Some customers reported much higher costs, with 13 survey respondents citing prices at or above $10,000.

Warranty options

Information on All American’s warranty is sparse. All American offers a lifetime warranty that promises to correct problems or defects. However, its website fails to specify terms, limitations, conditions and other warranty details.

The website notes you can call for details. We called All American and were told that only sales representatives can provide warranty information after an at-home inspection. This means you’ll need to have a representative come to your home and undergo an inspection and sales pitch to receive warranty information.

Without more information readily available, All American’s warranty presents itself more as a “clog-free guarantee” than a product or workmanship warranty.

Customer thoughts

It can be difficult to assess the quality of a smaller company fairly. All American, as of writing, has a single review on Trustpilot and fewer than 70 reviews on Better Business Bureau (BBB). To its credit, it has few registered complaints and an A BBB rating with accreditation. Due to the small sample size, the opinions expressed in its scores, complaints and reviews may not accurately reflect customer experience.

We read available customer responses for All American on BBB and noted that most customers were satisfied with its performance and the service they received. One positive BBB review we read from Cathleen stated that the sales team, installation crew and office staff were courteous and knowledgeable on multiple installations.

In contrast to other gutter guard companies, customers indicated that sales representatives avoid aggressive or high-pressure sales tactics. Glen mentioned that the negotiation was straightforward, while Rae noted the salesman was not pushy.

Our survey results confirm these sentiments. Out of the 230 customers surveyed, the majority of respondents gave favorable scores to All American’s guards, while only three were dissatisfied with its sales representatives. One respondent was dissatisfied with the guard’s ability to block debris, and two had issues with its ability to keep pests out.

Critical customer reviews noted poor communication regarding callbacks, repairs and warranty fulfillment. One review we read from Ellias mentioned calling repeatedly to set up a repair. At the time of writing the review, Ellias had waited nearly two months without receiving a callback.

The installation quality of All American is inconsistent across reviews. Some customers reported quick, professional installations with no issues, while others complained of crooked gutters, leftover debris and other problems.

Our survey results told a slightly different story. Only one respondent noted dissatisfaction with All American’s technicians. Despite vague warranty information on its website, no respondents reported dissatisfaction with their warranty.

Initially, we suspected that these results may reflect a lack of warranty claims — if few customers claim their warranty, it won’t allow problems or weaknesses in the warranty or claims process to present themselves, thus skewing the data. However, this wasn’t the case. Sixty-nine customers, just under one-third of all respondents, filed a claim for their gutter guard system. Of these, only one was dissatisfied with the claims process.

We appreciate that All American takes its customer responses seriously. It addresses almost every BBB complaint, compliment and response directly.

How easy are All American’s gutter guards to maintain and clean?

All American gutter covers are easy to clean thanks to their built-in pitch, flat design and micro-mesh material. Micro-mesh guards are among the best in the industry for blocking debris and diverting it to the ground. However, no gutter system can completely remove the need for regular care and maintenance

During our testing of other micro-mesh guards, we noted that micro-mesh guards are good at self-cleaning, but some debris will remain on top. We recommend cleaning micro-mesh guards once every year to prevent it from accumulating.

We looked at All American’s design and noted some problem areas on the guard that could make cleaning more difficult. A small gap exists between the front aluminum screen and the mesh guard. While most large debris should roll off these guards, small materials such as pine needles and shingle grit could get stuck here. If you choose All American gutter guards, you can use a hose with a spray nozzle or soft-bristled brush to remove stuck materials.

What is the installation process with All American?

Reach out to All American’s customer support team or fill out an online form to start the installation process. An All American representative will ask you basic questions about your home. After collecting this information, they’ll schedule an appointment for an on-site inspection.

An All American salesperson will arrive at your home on the inspection date. They’ll inspect the outside of your home, including its roof and existing gutter system. They’ll use this inspection to generate a free quote and present the different services and products available through All American. You can take this time to ask any questions you may have. If you agree to the quoted price, the sales representative will schedule an installation appointment.

On the day of the installation, an All American crew will arrive at your home. If you’ve chosen a gutter guard installation, they’ll clean your current gutters, make any needed repairs or section replacements, and install your new gutter guard system.

If you’ve chosen a full gutter installation or replacement, the crew will start by removing your old gutter system. They’ll install new gutters along with your gutter guards. Once your gutters are installed, the crew will clean up the remaining debris and materials, answer any questions you have and depart.

Final take: A quality gutter guard that needs more transparency

While not one of the best gutter guards, All American offers free estimates and offers high-quality gutter guard and boasts a strong reputation and above-average customer reviews. However, the company needs to improve the transparency of its warranty and prices.

It can be difficult to gauge the affordability and trustworthiness of a brand when presented with these gray areas. However, our research and survey results indicate that All American offers a quality product and top-notch customer service. You should schedule an in-person estimate to determine how much All American would charge for a gutter guard installation on your home.
