...I mean, of course it works. But how well it works can differ between connectors, and this specific unit is designed in such a way as to remain tight against whatever chassis you plug it into, which si especially handy on laptops.
That is a consideration if you are purchasing this product; Whatever you plug it into will leave no space for other connectors. For that instance you may be more interested in buying a different one to move the connector up or down,, before using another right-angle connector (like Zeskit's Side 90/W or Side-90/N to kick it over the way you want so other connections remain opened.
*Study your use case carefully.* The Side-90NU/R is suited to HDMI ports at the right side of your device, while the Side-90NU/L is for the left side. Likewise if you want the connector going toward you, rather than away from the back you'll want the opposite of what you should get to bring the HDMI connector behind your device The best way to figure out your neeeds is to always account for the narrow side of the HDMI connector and purchase based on that. Bascally, common sense and critical thinking.
It is well-constructed, with the shell really being made of cast zinc and the connector itself being just a plug and socket on a PCB. No real magic except for how it is assembled. Note however, the tolerances on the plug are SUPER tight, meaning it won't fall out by accident, but also it'll be hard to remove. Don't insert it all the way in unless you are certain that's how it's going to stay,, otherwise you'll have difficulty reversing your changes. (But the HDMI port will come out okay, I've tested that as well.)
Solid purchase, would recommend this and Zeskit's other HDMI adapters.

Great connector
I bought this connector to provide strain relief and to route the cable so that I have more space to use my mouse. The connector plugged in and worked, so functionality is perfect. The only minor caution to other buyers I'd offer is to pay very close attention to the port where you intend to use it. I almost bought the wrong one because while the item picture shows a 'right' angle, my laptop's port has the narrow side down. My picture shows the unit plugged in and you might see a small scratch on the outside of the turn. The product arrived PERFECTLY - no scratches. I'm a klutz and dropped a small screwdriver onto the unit before I plugged it in.

I needed a right-angle HDMI adapter to reroute the HDMI cable on my cinema camera from the monitor to the camera port.
