Product Description
Phenyx Pro PDP-1 Portable System
Stellar sound quality with the new UHF digital technology
The PDP-1 wireless microphone system is our first digital solution with distinguished sound quality. It boasts advanced 48kHz/24bit digital circuitry (<2.5ms delay), and designedly deploys the tunable 900MHz frequency to avoid the crowded 500MHz and 2.4GHz bands. Together with the classic dynamic cardioid mic capsule, the PDP-1 cordless mic set delivers the accurate pure sound and cleaner signal compared to the usual analog system.
Ultimate convenience with the portable rechargeable receiver
The portable wireless microphone receiver with a universal Type-C charging port generates 12 hours of party time — suitable for small-scale events like karaoke, weddings, church sermons, broadcast, meetings, etc. Easily achieve 200ft coverage when using the unit in the proper line-of-sight distance. For better reception and fewer staccatos, please use the angle TS adapter to keep the receiver upward. Now find your beat with the compact PDP-1 wireless mic system!

Wireless Microphone Tips
Hold Your Mic Properly
Do not cover with your hands the bottom of the transmitter where the signal is sent to avoid signal block.
Place the Antenna Correctly
Keep the receiver antenna upward. Insert the receiver to the angle TS male to female adapter firmly if needed.
Ensure Line of Sight
Use the microphone directly to the receiver in the proper range for better reception and fewer staccatos. Clean up metals in the line of sight.
No Bluetooth
This unit ciphers and deciphers signals in digital transmission. But it has no Bluetooth function to be compatible with other electronics.

Pro:
1. Setup and pairing is super easy and fast. It's really nice not to have run any extra XLR or power cables as well.
2. It operates in the 900MHz range which in my experience is typically not as crowded as other more popular digital frequencies. This means you are far less likely to run into interference/reception issues as you would with say a 2.4GHz system.
3. The signal is digital! There are many benefits to this. One is the audio quality will be much much better than an analog system. Two, you don't need to worry about the noise floor creeping up on you when using compression and eq. Three, should you have reception issues you don't have to worry about clicks/pops/dropouts. The signal is either on or off. I prefer that over getting noise in the signal. Especially clicks/pops/fuzz.
4. They include all the connections you could need to use the mic properly.
5. The mic and receiver both feel like they are made of high-quality materials. It doesn't feel like a toy or "cheap" when you handle it.
6. You get the Phenyx Pro name for a very low cost! I use other gear from Phenyx Pro so I know how reliable their gear is and how well it will perform. It holds up to the big names in performance every time.
7. You get 15 channels! With other mics in this price range, you typically get a fixed frequency which is never going to be ideal.
8. Customer service is amazing!
Cons: (there really aren't many and I'm being very nitpicky here)
1. It would be nice if the way to switch channels wasn't hidden behind the battery cover. When you need to switch on the fly it can be a hassle and it takes extra time to remove the battery cover, hit the switch, and replace the cover.
2. The sound quality of the mic could be improved but for the price, it's fantastic! Nothing that can't be fixed with proper mic technique and/or eq. The reason I say this is the proximity effect, plosive rejection, and handling noise is a bit more than other brands I use but again, those brands cost 10x what this mic does.
3. It would be nice if the receiver could scan for the best frequency to use. I work in the NYC area which is WELL known to have the most noisy/congested RF in the country. So it can be a real problem here. I haven't run into any issues yet (probably due to the mic working in 900 band) but it would still be awesome if it could scan and choose the best option for the location/time.
Overall I give this mic 5 stars for the value for the money. The few very small, nitpicky comments are really not a big deal for the most part and don't take away from the value or quality in my opinion. If you are thinking about getting this mic, do it! This is coming from a seasoned professional making their full-time income in pro audio. You won't regret the purchase!

The Phenyx mic looks like the Shure Betta58 mic with the round capsule which is what I really like.
The build is sturdy. I believe it's aluminum or some other light metal. The capsule is also metal.
The screen on the mic is pretty bright and easy to read. Twisting the sleeve for the battery compartment is really smooth, the threads don't feel rough. The mic has a good weight and doesn't feel cheap. The transmitter or the bottom of the mic is plastic. It does feel cheap and I feel that with time it will crack or if it's dropped from a good height it will crack. Im not too confident it will last.
Now to get to the receiver.
The receiver is really small. To turn on/off the receiver is a round button. The build of the receiver is also built with a light metal. I like that you can use a USB C charger to charge the unit. The unit feels like it'll last a good while.
Now to the sound quality and connectivity.
When I put the 2AA batteries in the mic and turned on the mic and turned on the receiver, the connection was instant. I liked that I didn't have to search for channels or hit a sync button to connect the units.
I connected the receiver to the stage box on stage and did a sound test. I eq'd the mic and got it up and running for our Sunday service. The sound was really good and clear and the range stated on the box was 200ft which I believe to be true. I walked with the mic to the mixer room which is about 100ft from the receiver with no drops or interference.
Cons':
The capsule is very fragile and the polar pattern picks up everything. It can be a problem at times. I'm not sure what the SPL is on the mic is because it was not listed anywhere but I can imagine is low because it'll distort with enough pressure. It'll really pick up the plosives so knowing how to cut that with eq and compression is a must. I know the Phenyx doesn't offer a rechargeable option for the mic, but if they did, I think that would be a huge selling point for their products. swapping the batteries every week can be a hassle and its just bad for the environment. Other than that I have no other complaints for this unit considering the $40 price point.
Overall great mic. Great price. Easy to use. Reliable. Great sound.
