In 2017 VICE documented Tyler, The Creator’s foray into furniture design in their web series Nuts + Bolts. Working with Herman Miller on a custom Eames lounger as well as professional carpenters to revamp his bed set up, it’s obvious that home design had been lingering on the artist’s mind. “GOLF Home is an idea I have where I make furniture and home-based items,” he says in the video. Nearing the end of the episode, Tyler unboxes a flower-printed bedding set from Parachute, visually reminiscent of his 2015 studio album Cherry Bomb. He shares that he’s “been wanting to make bedding for fucking four years” but failed to believe that his fanbase was interested in flame-covered bed sheets.
And while Tyler may have moved away from the tongue-in-cheek graphics of his Cherry Bomb era, the collection by GOLF le FLEUR* and Parachute, launched today, includes a combination of fuzzy fabrics and pastel colors that are familiar to any fan of Tyler. Ranging from $69 to $449, the eight-item line offers Parachute favorites like linen bedding, fuzzy throws, and accessories like shearling slippers.
According to Parachute’s founder, Ariel Kaye, Tyler is a longtime fan and supporter of Parachute. A surprise visit to the company’s headquarters in California sparked inspiration for the collab, where the CEO and multihyphenate bounced ideas off one another and initial conversations about what a partnership would look like took place. The rest was history.
“Within minutes, the conversation evolved from creating a custom collection for him to a custom collaboration we could share with his fans and our community alike,” Ariel recalls. “Together we worked on a collection that blended our brands signature quality with le FLEUR*’s iconic and whimsical world of curiosity and color.”
Between his extravagant stage design for the global Call Me If You Get Lost tour and knack for pastel-colored apparel, the bedding’s color palette is completely on brand. For anyone that’s familiar with Tyler’s innovation in the fashion and fragrance industries, it’s not a surprise to see the linen in soft shades of Geneva Blue, Blonde, and Jade.
“Over the years, as we’ve evolved, we’ve seen our customer gravitate towards more color and pattern, and while this is the most bold and vibrant collection yet, we can’t wait for both the Parachute and le FLEUR* communities to enjoy this absolutely delightful assortment,” Ariel told us via email.
And if the sumptuous sheet sets weren’t enough, the collaboration also includes a pair of shearling wool slippers. Described by Ariel as a “cult favorite” among the Parachute team, the cozy accessory is a call to Tyler’s previous design ventures, with a star motif that appears on a majority of le FLEUR*’s Converse collaborations.
If anything, this collaboration is a clear message that there’s no ceiling covering Tyler’s creativity. Could we potentially expect more home goods collections from le FLEUR*? In the meantime, Tyler’s collaboration with Parachute is now available to shop online.
