(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Two people were injured in a shooting this afternoon at the North Riverside Park Mall.

According to Mayor Joseph Mengoni, the shooting happened around 5:20 p.m. after a fight inside the mall.

“What we do know is that it was a physical altercation between two males and two females resulting in one gunshot injury to both males. Both parties were transported to the hospital and are considered in stable condition at this time.”

Police determined two couples got into a physical altercation inside the mall before shots were fired.

The mayor said a gun has not been recovered. No arrests have been made.

Mayor Mengoni said it is believed there is no threat to the larger community.

The mall is expected to reopen tomorrow for Fourth of July shoppers.
