Palmetto Solar is a straight SCAM!!!! I was told my solar system would eliminate my electric bill and I’d get credits for Duke Energy. When we have power outages, my neighbors that have solar have power while I don’t. I then was told by Juan that because I didn’t have a battery or a generator, my system wouldn’t make power. Next I was told(and this is hilarious) “Unfortunately, we don’t have batteries or generators, I apologize”. So I asked for another company and I was told if I used another company I would lose my warranty. I said ok who would you recommend, and I was told Tesla. I’m not willing to pay Tesla likely $5 to $10k for something that Palmetto should be able to do. You should sell a product or service or even be in business if you don’t have ALL the equipment to make the system work. I’m almost at the point I want the panels off my house and not to be charged any additional costs because of dishonesty. I pay over $350 a month for electricity and the most of it comes from Palmetto and my system doesn’t even work. Also I never got any type of discount from Duke Energy that is in my contract. I could go on and on but I’ll close with I’ve reported your company to the BBB and filed a complaint to ensure your company will stop scamming people and be shut down. Feel free to contact me and give me legitimate options for my system to work or come get your panels and I’ll go with a better company. Brayell J.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I did a re-roof and solar project, and I can confidently say this is the worst customer service experience of my lifetime. At a high level, this company does not care about their customers, does not communicate and has no integrity. I specifically want to single out David J and Richard C. Palmetto forced me to go with their roofing company who delayed my project to the point where I lost my less than 3% financing rate, and the rates more than doubled and Palmetto had the nerve to blame me for the delay. At that point the roof had been completed so I had to move forward with the project, otherwise I would have backed out of the deal. Needlless to say, I reduced my solar system to the smallest package possible to get out of this horrible deal. It took them a year and a half to get my solar system active....meanwhile I was paying my electric bill and solar bill for 6 months straight. This summer my system went down because of a blown fuse, no one from Palmetto notified me that the system was down and the only reason I found out was I saw my *** bill go to $400. Then they sent someone out to fix the fuse, the electrician was here less than an hour and resolved the issue.Days later, they sent me a $450 invoice for "labor" as labor is not covered under their phony warranty (they have you sign a completely misleading document prior to sending a technician out stating you are responsible for things outside your warranty, like rodent damage but NEVER mention labor). The technician never informed me of the charges before the work was done, as I am disputing the validity of the repair authorization document, they shut off my system completely so now I have another $400 electric bill + loan payment this month. It truly is unbelievable and someone needs to shut them down or hold them accountable for these unethical business practices.

This company came knocking to my parents door. They came and stated they were a company from the government with a new program that had started. The sales man was bilingual and spoke Spanish. My parents only speak Spanish. He convinced them by telling them it was something it was not. He had them sign a contract in English and did not provide any Spanish documents, contract, or translation for the contract being signed. After the solar panels were installed, the contractor has been ignoring my parents phone calls and has blocked them. This company is fraudulent and is misleading.

This is the worst company ever, they take advantage of the Ederly people and everything in the sale pitch is a lie. Kyler A who was our sales representative whom supposedly work for ****** ******. Set us with this company because we didn't qualify for ****** ****** when spoke back to him he didn't want to take responsibility for anything. I have had Solor panels sitting on my roof since April 1st 2024 it is now going into August and nothing. Also was told in order for **** ****** to activate the panels I would need a million dollar homeowner insurance policy. **** ****** stated that needs to take place only if you have over a certain number of panels and they never received any information from Palmetto about installation. This company is straight garbage and needs to be shut down, never answer phone, never return calls. They lie from the sales pitch all away to the installation. my last with conversation that they were contacting the installers to come and remove them and that was a month ago. After that complete silence and unable to speak to anyone. My manager for this project Jorge L is nonexistent. Please help. Please start an investigation on this company and their practices so this will not keep happening to innocent people. We have sought help from a local law firm to assist in the investigation of this company. People Please stay away from Palmetto Solor.

A few months ago I filed a complaint about this company, since they had some issues and needed to fix my solar panels, technicians from Palmetto came to my house and I have to say that they were extremely professional and knowledgeable, they went into a detailed inspection of the whole installation, till they found what was wrong with it, I have no complaints about this company and I highly recommend it for anyone's solar needs. My experience with Palmetto Solar was horrible. First they send a salesman to your home promising you things that are not true. In my case he said the solar panels would cover a 100% of my electric bill. And the overage of the electricity generated by the panels would be stored by Duke Power and used at a later time if needed or get a credit. He said the only way I would have a bill if I got a charging station for an electric car or a heater for an outdoor pool. Felipe also stated that it would be no charge for the panels until 2 months after the installation on your home. Fast forward about 2 months the project manager contacts me and wants to confirm everything, He states that it would be only a 51% coverage of Duke Energy bill. We discussed it and I determined I no longer wanted it since i was thinking I'm getting a 100% coverage...So he cancels the project. .About a month later I received a bill for over 3000 dollars saying if they did not receive a payment they would turn it over to a collection agency.. That is where I am at this time. Jamie J

    Jamie,

I reviewed your account and was able to locate an initial proposal for more than double the amount of panels you signed up for that would've covered your entire usage. Ultimately that design was scaled down to only 15 panels rather than the 32 it provided. The sales dealer that you met with is an independent dealer. The agent that called you at a later date was a Palmetto employee with the purpose of educating you, answering any questions you have, providing updates as well as assisting in progressing your project as quickly as possible. Emails also should've gone out providing you with expected production vs. your annual consumption.

Regarding the email that you received for the bill, that was a complete miss on our behalf. That email incorrectly went to you & you should not have been the recipient. Your project was canceled well before installation & therefore you do not owe Palmetto anything financially. We sincerely apologize for this miscommunication, I have brought it to the attention of the parties responsible for this process so we can learn from our mistakes.

To summarize, Palmetto contacted you to provide you with the actual numbers of what you consume within your home vs. what your system will produce. Once you did not agree to this, your project was canceled. We then mistakenly sent you an email stating you owe $3k due to an unpaid invoice. We have taken steps to ensure this no longer occurs as it was in error. Due to this, we ask that you please reconsider your stance with Palmetto since we believe in taking care of our customers.

    Thanks for your understanding,

If I could leave no stars I would. DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE. I was a first time home buyer, excited to get solar and ultimately it was the worst decision of my life to go with Palmetto. We had our system installed July of 2022 and was told to switch to a solar plan with the electricity company. By September 2022 I was still paying a full electric bill not seeing any credit's even though we were being told our system was generating. We have had our solar system for 24 months now and I have paid an electric bill 18 months out of the 24. I recently had another company knock on my door and after speaking with them they told me Palmetto basically got one over on me by selling my a system that was only half of what I needed and charged me the same price as the full system I needed. Now lets talk about where I'm at today. For MONTHS I have had two panels not producing and have called multiple times and I keep being told they will submit a ticket to have a technician come out because they subcontract EVERYTHING out. I never receive a call back and a technician never comes to my home and now I'm hearing that Palmetto is going bankrupt. Do not use this company.

I am leaving this review to help others. I do not recommend palmetto solar. There contract is non specific whether your leasing, rent to own, or out right buying solar panels. If your don't out right buy your panels and you read the fine print it’s like you don’t own your own roof or possible the legal title of your own home anymore from the type of lien you have to agree to. Because of the vague general contract, the controlling rights to your property, they also had out dated info for wind requirements, incorrect info on other emails, and lastly the entire reason for the sales rep knocking on my door I discovered was completely untrue, I choose to cancel my contract. …… ok I canceled my contract…. I have several confirmations on this from palmetto solar. I decide I want a HELOC from my local bank. I apply. I’m approved. 1,2, months go by. I find out palmetto solar is holding up my life…. Because they have a notice of commitment lien they placed on my home from before I canceled my contract. Mind you I have no solar panels on my home and the only rep that stepped foot on my property was the initial sales rep. My bank has sent a total of 8 requests now. EIGHT that’s right eight. I have spoke to over 10 people myself within palmetto solar that say I have no open bill and it’s been taken care of. However my bank still has not received the overnight prepaid return envelope they have now sent 8 times. By trying to FORCE me to use your company makes me NEVER wish to do business with your company. I first gave your company the benefit of the doubt said there must be some misunderstanding. Obviously your company doesn’t care about people or there lives. Use palmetto solar loose rights to your own home.

    Mary,

Thank you for your feedback. The agreement is for ownership of the system, not for your roof & therefore, not for ownership of your home.  The NOC should have been cancelled but it was not yet cancelled unfortunately. For that, we apologize. When a project is cancelled in our system, there is a team goes through & ensures cancellations are sent to the offices required so no NOC's remain active for projects that are not being installed. Your project was cancelled at the end of May so that process should have occurred in June but it did not. I have personally notified the correct party to ensure the NOC is removed & that should be taking place shortly. Thank you for your understanding.

A solar panel door-to-door sales rep affiliated with Palmetto Solar,LLC and LightReach came to my house unsolicited to pitch what I ultimately learned was a solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). The rep originally referred to it as a Power Provider Agreement but confirmed it was a PPA when asked to clarify. The rep went through high level details on how their program worked. I indicated I was not ready to enter into any agreement until I had a better understanding of the program details. In order to provide the PPA details the rep said I had to sign an "application." The rep pulled up a electronic document up on DocuSign for me to sign. I reiterated that I did not want to sign an agreement. The rep said that in order for me to get the program details I needed to sign the document so they could proceed with putting together the proposal. I was hesitant; however, in bold letters on the first page of the 37 page document it stated, "This document is only a summary, not a binding contract. The full terms and conditions are contained in the PPA itself, and they prevail over this summary." My interpretation of that language was that I was signing a non-binding document because that is what was stated in bold letters. I signed where needed without reading the entire doc because it said it was non-binding. On 7/8/24, I found out from a solar panel rep who used to work for Palmetto that if I did not cancel the PPA I signed within 10 days I could be on the hook for any expenses Palmetto or its partners incurred in preparing a proposal regardless of whether I wanted the solar system or not. After going back to review the document I saw where it stated on page 2 of 37 at the bottom that, "This Agreement is a legally binding agreement, so please read everything carefully including all of the Exhibits." I ended up cancelling the agreement within the 10 days but would not have done so if not for the other rep alerting me. l feel as though I was misled and deceived.

Install took 3 days. Great crew. December of 23. As of today 6/28/24 we are not activated. There is not contact with any help. We are scheduled for a witness test to confirm panels are producing however everything is turned off. I’m not supposed to turn anything on. Having said that I turned everything on and it still doesn’t work. When discussing with Georgia Power he tells me that Palmetto has it turned off remotely. All Palmetto can tell me is that it’s up for witness test. This has been going on for months. Paid in full of course. The sales person stopped communicating some time back. I should have read all the reviews because it seems to be the same case if you keep reading.

Joe, we sincerely apologize for your delay. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Once we were made aware, your system was immediately removed from standby so the "Witness Test" can occur. It should not have taken this level of follow up on your behalf to remove the system from standby & as mentioned, once this was brought to the attention of customer experience on 6/27 we ensured it was removed from standby by 6/28. We are left to assume this additional review was posted before you were notified that it was removed. Please continue to contact us at [email protected] as well as (855)339-1831 for further assistance.
