A Quiet Place: Day One Sequel Could ‘Absolutely’ Happen, Says Director

A Quiet Place: Day One sequel hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, but is something director Michael Sarnoski thinks is almost certain to happen.

Speaking to Variety, Sarnoski — who directed Day One as well as the 2021 film Pig starring Nicolas Cage — was asked about a potential sequel following the success of Day One. Sarnoski didn’t mince words by quickly acknowledging that yes, he thinks one could happen.

What did Michael Sarnoski say about A Quiet Place: Day One sequel?

“Absolutely. I bet you will. But I don’t know — at this point, I’m just recovering from making this one. So I’m sure Paramount will come up with something very fun next,” said Sarnoski.

When asked what he would like to see in a sequel, the director liked the idea of exploring more off-beat stories set within the A Quiet Place universe.

“What attracted me to this story was the uniqueness of Sam, following this dying person who isn’t even really fighting for survival,” Sarnoski said. “So, I would want to see something similarly off-beat, like an unexpected character in this world. The “Quiet Place” universe does open itself up to any characters that you want to follow and want to explore. I’m not sure. I put so much into Sam and Eric. That was all the love and care that I had right now to find these characters. I would have to think of a character that I could really fall in love with and really want to be surprised by seeing the world through their eyes.”

A Quiet Place: Day One serves as a prequel to A Quiet Place, the post-apocalyptic horror film series co-created by John KrasinskiMichael Sarnoski is writing and directing Day One based on a story treatment by Krasinski, the latter of whom is also attached as a producer.

In addition to the upcoming prequel/spin-off, Krasinski is developing a third main-series film in the A Quiet Place saga. A video game based on (and sharing continuity with) the film series is also in the works.
