Taylor Wily Passes Away, Hawaii Five-0 Star & UFC Fighter Was 56

Taylor Wily, the actor best known for his recurring role on Hawaii Five-0, passed away this week at the age of 56.

The actor, who was also a former sumo wrestler and mixed martial artist, was born under the name Teila Tuli and came from Laie, Hawaii. The exact specifics of his death are unknown as of now, but the news was confirmed by Hawaii’s KITV 4 as well as Peter M. Lenkov, the executive producer of the Hawaii Five-0 reboot in which Wily appeared.

“T, as I told you many times, I fell in love with you at the first audition. You came in with a towel on your head mopping up sweat, and I was smitten,” said Lenkov in an Instagram post on Wily’ passing. “You charmed me into making you a regular… on the show… and in my life. You were family. And I will miss you every day, brother.”

Before acting, Wilys found himself pursuing a career in the world of sumo wrestling before retiring due to an injured knee. After that, Wily then competed in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, before eventually making his way into the world of mixed martial arts.

Wily competed at the very first rendition of Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he lost his only match at UFC 1. After that, he ventured into the world of acting, where he appeared in projects like Forgetting Sarah Marshall, MacGyver, Magnum P.I., and Hawaii Five-0.

ComingSoon sends its condolences to the family of Wily.
