Time Bandits Trailer Reveals Taika Waititi’s Apple TV+ Series

The Time Bandits trailer reveals the upcoming Taika Waititi series for Apple TV+, which consists of ten episodes that will debut globally, with the first two episodes airing on Wednesday, July 24. It’ll then be followed by two new episodes every Wednesday through August 21.

Time Bandits follows an eccentric crew of bandits as they embark on epic adventures, even while evil forces threaten life as they know it. The group is transported through time and space, stumbling upon fascinating worlds of the distant past and seeking out treasure. As all this happens, the titular Time Bandits witness “the creation of Stonehenge, they see the Trojan Horse, flee from dinosaurs in the prehistoric age, wreak havoc during medieval times, experience the Ice Age, ancient civilizations, and the Harlem Renaissance, and much more,” per the official synopsis.

What happens in the Time Bandits trailer?

The trailer begins by focusing on a young boy obsessed with the warriors and the happenings of the past, even though his parents advise him against it. It’s then revealed that the boy’s room is a time egress that essentially allows him to move through the universe. It’s there that he’s introduced to Penelope, played by Friends and The Comeback star Lisa Kudrow, who refers to herself as the leader of the bandits. She changes her tune when her life is threatened, amusingly saying they’re all equal.

Kudrow’s character describes the group as expert thieves, able to steal just about anything. The Time Bandits trailer also hints at the central conflict of the Apple TV+ sci-fi series, as there is a map that is of utmost importance to the ostensible good guys and some evil creatures. The trailer also shows the bond that builds between the boy (played by Kal-El Tuck) and the Bandits.

Along with Kudrow and Tuck, the cast includes Tadhg Murphy (Conversations with Friends), Roger Jean Nsengiyumva (You Don’t Know Me), Rune Temte (Eddie the Eagle), Charlyne Yi (Knocked Up), Rachel House (Heartbreak High), Kiera Thompson (Martyrs Lane), James Dryden (Ready Player One), Felicity Ward (The Office Australia), Francesca Mills (Harlots), and Imaan Hadchiti (Thor: Love and Thunder). There are also special guest appearances by Waititi and fellow co-creator Jemaine Clement.

Time Bandits, an adaptation of the beloved cult classic movie by the same name, is created for television by Clement, Iain Morris, and Waititi and produced for Apple TV+ by Paramount Television Studios, Anonymous Content’s AC Studios, and MRC.

Clement, Morris, and Waititi executive produce, write, and direct select episodes, with Clement and Morris serving as co-showrunners. Garrett Basch and Tim Coddington also executive produce with Jane Stanton, who executive produces for Handmade Films.
