“MaXXXine” is a horror movie written and directed by Ti West starring Mia Goth. With Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan and Kevin Bacon.
The adventures of this most psychopathic and unbalanced girl come to an end with a film full of tributes to cinema in a film that exudes love for the seventh art everywhere.
A film that you will enjoy more the more cinephile you are and, if you have lived the eighties, the better. A profound tribute to cinema and the deep conviction of its author, Ti West, in his own talent.
A new kind of Quentin Tarantino who pays homage to everything, who seems to have seen it all and who, like Wes Craven, allows himself to make a self-aware horror film that ultimately reflects on horror cinema itself and, beyond that, on the art of filmmaking itself.

Director Ti West's conclusion to the "X" trilogy is coming home. West and star Mia Goth rounded out their decades-spanning horror trilogy this year with "MaXXXine," picking up a little while after "X" left off ("Pearl" was a prequel). The film brings the action to the '80s with Goth's Maxine Minx trying to fulfill her dream of becoming a star, and naturally, things get bloody along the way. For those who may have missed the retro, murderous trip through Hollywood, fear not! You can now watch the film from the comfort of home.
A24 has released "MaXXXine" on VOD following its successful run at the box office. The movie is now available through a variety of digital retailers such as Apple TV, Google Play, Fandango at Home, and Prime Video, among others. It is currently available to rent...

“That’s what I am to you, isn’t it? Swamp trash, just like my mom.”
We’ve all heard stories about Florida Man. Maybe he lost a wrestling match with an alligator, dropped his keys into a pit of snakes, or fell into a flaming dumpster as it floated off to sea. Whatever the case, this southern miscreant has a reputation for spectacularly trashy and ill-advised behavior. And it seems we can’t get enough. But decades before the world regaled the misadventures of Florida Man, John McNaughton gave us Wild Things, a sleazy, sun-baked noir about a troublesome Florida polycule. This salacious film not only features steamy performances from Matt Dillon and Kevin Bacon – each playing their own delightful versions of a proto-Florida Man – but two sexy lady killers who set the screen on fire with their seductive scheming and in-your-face sexuality.

Lucky 13, a new game show with an exciting new premise for winning money, is co-hosted by Shaquille O’Neal (Shaq) and Gina Rodriguez.
Shaq’s production company, Jersey Legends Productions, is helping to produce the game show, and Gina serves as an executive producer.
According to TV Series Finale, its first episode had 2.73 million people watching, which is an excellent number for a new show.
What makes Lucky 13 different is not the hosts; although having the chemistry that Shaq has is not to be discounted, the mechanics of the game are what makes it a great show.
The twist is that of the 13 true-or-false trivia questions that Shaq asks the contestants to answer; they must decide how many they got correct and, depending on how accurately they guess, determine how much money they win.
Lucky 13 airs on Thursday nights on ABC and can be streamed the next day on Hulu.

The fact of the matter is that sometimes a movie franchise needs to gracefully retire. It's a bitter truth to accept, especially when expectations are high among both long-time fans and newcomers. While 'Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F' wasn't a complete disappointment, it fell notably short of its predecessors. The film lacked the trademark humor, adrenaline-pumping action, and overall charisma that defined the series. In short, it failed to capture the essence that made the previous films classics. If one were to make a Mount Rushmore of classic horror films, there's a more than decent chance that 1980s' "Friday the 13th" would make the cut. Directed by Sean S. Cunningham and written by Victor Miller, the legendary slasher spawned a franchise that is still popular to this day. We haven't had a movie in the series since 2009's "Friday the 13th" remake, but that's another story entirely. But while as important as the movie may be, it turns out that many of the now-legendary kills were done in very low-tech ways. Case in point, the axe to the face that led to the demise of Marcie Stanler was accomplished with a gag item that could be purchased at a magic shop.
In a 2015 oral history on the film published by Uproxx, the filmmakers were discussing the scene in which Jeannine Taylor's Marcie meets her demise when Pamela Voorhees...

Send a crazed, supernatural, unstoppable murderer my way and maybe I’ll escape them. Throw some ghosts or demons at me and hopefully a priest or one of those Paranormal TV show guys from the Travel Channel can help. Zombies or vampires? Sure, it’ll suck. But I know how to at least try and survive that. I have a fighting chance. These things are frightening but there are three things scarier than all of them: An unstoppable world ending weather event, losing my family, or losing my mind. Take Shelter deals with the entirety of this unholy triumvirate.

Back in 1990, director Joel Schumacher teamed with screenwriter Peter Filardi to bring us the psychological horror film Flatliners, a movie that was memorable enough to receive a forgettable reboot in 2017. Filardi recently regained the rights to his original screenplay – and Deadline reports that he has given author J.D. Barker the chance to write a novel called Flatliners Resurrection, which is based on Filardi’s script but puts a new twist on the concept.
The film has the following synopsis: Seeking answers about the afterlife, Chicago medical student Nelson persuades his fellow pupils to help him end his life, and then resuscitate him in the nick of time. Atheist David, playboy Joe, and troubled Rachel also journey into the unknown, looking for meaning in their own lives. As the experiments become more perilous, each is forced to contend with the paranormal consequences of trespassing on the other side.

In the wake of the original 1990 movie and the largely forgotten 2017 remake, the Flatliners saga will continue with Flatliners Resurrection, a new novel that’s currently in the works.
According to Deadline’s exclusive report this morning, the upcoming novel will be penned by J.D. Barker (Dracul), and it puts a fresh twist on the original Flatliners screenplay.
Deadline explains, “The original [movie] was released by Columbia, but Barker said that scribe Peter Filardi got back the rights to his original script, and the author swayed the scribe with a twist to the original tale that takes the reanimation tale down a different road than the original or a later remake. The novel is based on that script, not the movie, and Intellectual Property Group’s Joel Gotler will broker both the publishing and screen rights.”
“We’re thrilled to have J.D. Barker on board for this project,” said Filardi.

Not Dead Yet’s Gina Rodriguez returns to primetime to cohost a new game show alongside basketball icon Shaquille O’Neal. The high-stakes competition series, Lucky 13, executive produced by Kevin Bacon, focuses on contestants’ knowledge — but just because you’re confident about your answer, it doesn’t mean you’re safe. To win the $1 million cash prize, contestants must answer 13 tough questions…and then accurately predict how many of them they’ve gotten correct! Watch the exclusive promo above to see. Rodriguez, a self-proclaimed trivia buff, shares more. Disney/Ronda Churchill How is this show different from other game shows? Gina Rodriguez: The cool thing is that it’s really more about what you know about yourself. It’s not about “I have to get them all right.” It’s about knowing how many you believe you got [out of 13 true-or-false questions]. So, if you get all 13 right and you’re like, “I know...

Eddie Murphy fought to keep a reference to the iconic banana exhaust pipe joke from ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ out of his new movie. The 63-year-old actor was more than happy to reprise his role as Axel Murphy in ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ but was disappointed to learn the production team wanted to include a reference to the scene from the original 1984 flick where his character foils pursuing police officers by putting a banana in their car’s exhaust pipe.During a roundtable discussion with his co-stars for Netflix, the comedian said: “I fought to make sure there would be no banana in the tailpipe, up until the very last day of the movie. “Whenever we hit a little speed bump, and we needed a joke or something, the director said, ‘How about the banana in the tailpipe?’, ‘No, no, we can’t do it.’ ‘You know, but the people really want to see that.

The first teaser trailer for The Toxic Avenger remake was released last October. We haven't heard much since then, though reviews from various film festivals have been largely positive.
However, word comes from World of Reel today that filmmaker Macon Blair's movie starring Peter Dinklage is currently considered "unreleasable."
The site claims to have spoken to a producer who says The Toxic Avenger's commercial prospects are too "out there" for any sort of traditional theatrical release, likely explaining why the movie still has no confirmed distributor.
As a result, it's looking increasingly likely that it will have to be offloaded to a streamer or go straight to VOD.
There's been a fair bit of excitement surrounding The Toxic Avenger, so the news it may never see the light of day is deeply troubling. Yes, that's a possibility according to the site. Here's an excerpt from their report:

Let’s flashback to the summer of ’95 when movies were more than flicks—they were cultural events, grand spectacles that had everyone buzzing. That year, theaters were ablaze with standout blockbusters that defined the summer movie season. Michael Bay’s explosive Bad Boys kicked off the buddy cop genre into high gear with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence turning the charm up to eleven. Then there was Die Hard with a Vengeance, where Bruce Willis teamed up with Samuel L. Jackson in a thrilling game of cat and mouse through the streets of New York, which, for my money, is the best of the bunch. But let’s save that for another day. Even Disney threw its hat in the ring with Pocahontas, captivating audiences with its lush animation and heartfelt storytelling.

Netflix had a surprise switch-up at the top of their movie chart here in the US. The golf drama “The Long Game” just bumped Eddie Murphy’s “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” from the number one spot. Talk about unexpected!
“The Long Game” stars Dennis Quaid, Jay Hernandez, and Cheech Marin in the story of a school superintendent facing racism at an all-white country club. It came out on Netflix last week and quickly rocketed to the top. And it’s no surprise – the movie has a perfect 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes! Clearly folks are really enjoying it.
Meanwhile, “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” had a solid week-long run at number one after its successful debut. The action-comedy, also starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Kevin Bacon, pulled in 41 million global viewers in the first week. Not too shabby!
The volatility of streaming is plain to see. Like the Italian thriller...

SpongeBob SquarePants turned 25 years old this past May. During his quarter-century at the forefront of Nickelodeon programming, Tom Kenny’s beloved, boxy and endlessly upbeat fry cook has remained largely unchanged, with the exception of a brief animation “glow-up” that left the redesigned hero looking a little too much like a SpongeBob plush doll than SpongeBob himself.
Though most of the fans who fell in love with SpongeBob SquarePants during its first few seasons on television probably aren’t religiously keeping up with the show through the modern day — much like how we don’t eat Totino’s Pizza Rolls as often or own as many Tech Deks as we did back then — the Og fans will be relieved...

Picking up six years after the events of X, Maxine Minx has hit the big time as an adult entertainment star. Looking to make her start as a bonafide actress, she hits Hollywood — but California in 1985 is also the home of the eponymous serial killer, the Night Stalker. As he makes his mark on Western America, Maxine’s old wounds come back to the surface… and all is not as it seems.
When 1970s slasher romp X landed on screens, it was largely a hit with critics and viewers alike. The surprise of prequel Pearl already being in production only exacerbated the positive vibes, offering a completely difference perspective not only on West’s vision but also Goth’s horror queen chops. There was little doubt that Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F would enjoy quite the debut on Netflix, with the only question being just how well it would do. Well, Netflix announced today that the long-awaited sequel has debuted at the #1 spot on the English Films List with 41 million views, easily making it the most-watched title of the week.
The #2 spot was filled by the romantic comedy A Family Affair, starring Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron. It had 31.9 million views, nearly 10 million less than Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. I still think this film would have done great in theaters, but what can you do?
Now, what does this mean for another Beverly Hills Cop sequel? It likely confirms that Eddie Murphy and producer Jerry Bruckheimer were right to have already started brainstorming ideas. “They’re developing it,” Murphy said at last month’s world premiere. “If it comes together, we’ll be doing another one.

Ti West and Mia Goth complete their decade-hopping horror trilogy with MaXXXine, a sequel to both X and Pearl that’s now playing in theaters nationwide courtesy of A24.
A24 released MaXXXine in 2,450 theaters here in the United States over the weekend, with the final installment in Ti West’s trilogy scaring up $6.7 million in its domestic debut. At the worldwide box office, MaXXXine debuted to an impressive $7.8 million over the weekend.
Both of the previous films were released into theaters in 2022, with X opening to $4.2 million and Pearl opening to $3.1 million. That gives MaXXXine the highest opening out of the entire trilogy, more than doubling the domestic opening of the previous installment in the saga.
X finished its box office run with $14.7 million worldwide while Pearl made $9.8 million in total at the worldwide box office, and there’s a good chance MaXXXine will soon become the overall highest grossing movie in the trilogy.
