In March, the Iran-backed Houthis reportedly tested a hypersonic missile “with high lethality” and planned to “add it to their arsenal.” They also warned of specifically attacking Cape of Good Hope-bound shipping, because that was where many ships were headed in order to avoid Houthi attacks at the Red Sea. So far, “nearly 120 merchant vessels have been targeted by the Houthis in their seven-month campaign, which they say is in solidarity with Hamas’s ongoing war with Israel.”
Now the Houthis, in “the first public revelation of the missile,” have attacked a ship in the Arabia Sea, signaling its escalation since March. The Arabian Sea connects with the Red Sea through the strait of Bab-el-Mandeb.
The Houthis are not to be taken lightly. In February, the Yemeni government warned of a Houthi threat to the “world’s digital infrastructure.”
“Houthis say they used ‘home-made hypersonic missile’ to attack ship in Arabian Sea: Report,” WION News, June 27, 2024:
Yemen’s Iranian-backed Houthi group claimed on Wednesday (Jun 26) to have used a domestically developed hypersonic missile in an attack on a cargo ship in the Arabian Sea earlier this week, Xinhua reported. This development came amid escalating tensions in West Asia and attacks on shipping in the Red Sea and surrounding waterways.
The rebel group released a video statement purporting to show the launch of the missile, which is dubbed “Hadim 2”. They, however, didn’t disclose the exact timing of the attack. The report stated that the long and yellow rocket with Roman numerals on its fins was seen in the video being launched from a mobile platform in an unidentified desert location.
Houthi claimed in the video that the statement described the Hadim 2 as a solid-fuel hypersonic ballistic missile manufactured by Houthi military facilities. It also added that this marked the first public revelation of the missile….
Yahya Sarea, the Yemeni group’s spokesperson, claimed an “accurate and direct” hit on the ship, describing the vessel as “Israeli”….
“Yemen plans to begin manufacturing it for use in attacks in the Red and Arabian Seas and the Gulf of Aden, as well as against targets in Israel,” it added.
Hypersonic weapons fly at speeds higher than Mach 5 and the one claimed to have tested by Houthis is Mach 8 which is eight times the speed of sound. Such missiles could pose crucial challenges to missile defence systems because of their speed and manoeuvrability.

A “home made hypersonic missile”
An unlikely story! You need techinal experts/engineers to operate such technology.
Say,it wouln’t have been supplied to the Houthis?Most lokely,yes,
.
That “home made” device must be like the 100 megaton Nuclear device made out of cornflakes packets,Lego bricks, some string and elastic bands and a misunderstanding of how complex sush a task is,that i made as a kid.

One bright morning, In the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other,
and drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
and came and killed two dead boys.
And if you don’t believe this tale so tall,
Ask the blind man, he saw it all!

This is what happens when leftists and globalists allow world-changing technology to get in the hands of third-worlders.
This is also what happens to most of the “foreign aid” and “charity” sent to the third world.
The time for common sense has arrived.

I doubt it, more like just another example of Islamic fever dreams and boastfulness.
