The Bombay (that is, Mumbai) High Court has upheld a college’s ban of the hijab, ruling that it is not a requirement in Islam, except that it is.
The petitioners claimed such a directive was against their fundamental rights to practice their religion, right to privacy and right to choice.
The plea termed the college action as “arbitrary, unreasonable, bad-in-law and perverse”.
The petitioner’s advocate, Altaf Khan, last week submitted before the HC certain verses from the Quran to support their claim that wearing hijab was an essential part of Islam.
(Quran 24:31) And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only what is apparent, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment except to their own husbands or fathers or husbands’ fathers, or their sons or their husbands’ sons, or their brothers or their brothers’ sons or sisters’ sons, or their women, or their slaves, or male attendants who lack desire, or children who know nothing of women’s nakedness. And do not let them stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And turn to Allah together, O believers, so that you may succeed.
(Quran 33:59) O prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their veils close around them. That will be better, so that they may be recognized and not molested. Allah is always forgiving, merciful.
It is high time that leaders everywhere understand that there are tenets in Islam that are completely incompatible with non-Islamic laws and customs, and they need to be identified as such.
“‘Hijab not must in Islam’: Bombay HC upholds ban in college, says it’s in students’ interest,” Times of India, June 27, 2024:
MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on Wednesday upheld the ban by a Chembur college on students wearing burqa, hijab or niqab on the campus…
“The objective behind prescribing the dress code is evident…the intention is a student’s religion ought not to be revealed. It is in the larger academic interest of the students, for the administration and discipline of the college that this objective is achieved,” said Justices A S Chandurkar and Rajesh Patil.
They dismissed a plea by nine science students of N G Acharya and D K Marathe College calling the ban arbitrary, discriminatory and violative of their fundamental rights to expression under Article 19 (1) (a) and religion under Article 25.
They agreed with a Karnataka HC ruling that donning hijab or niqab was not an essential practice of girls professing Islam.
The petition also stated that their rights to choice and privacy were affected by the dress code and donning hijab and niqab was an essential religious practice. Senior advocate Anil Anturkar, for the college, had cited Karnataka HC full bench’s judgment in a similar case that donning hijab or niqab was not an essential practice of girls professing Islam.…

All the taqiyah they used on children (I know they had this taught in US schools) of insisting that covering and genital mutilation were mere cultural practices not to be attributed to islam, with the result that they get to live with what their lies created. It was all to tell a story that muslim women had more rights and freedom than other women, despite reality. Enjoy. And yes, much better that courts deal with the reality of islam, but I’m happy to see some pushback.

Sooner or later, HP, lies catch up with the liars. It’s that ‘reap as one has sown’ rule.
mozlums seek to have it both ways, but for once, they didn’t get their way.

It could be that they don’t want any Muslims attending the school.

If the mozlums can’t wear the hiding garb, then non-mozlums won’t be such easy targets as they would be if mozlums wore them and could easily identify infidel girls for attack.

Good point, and exactly what they teach. The lies, the lies.

Muslims say hijab is for protecting women, from sex predators of course. The question is, who are the sex predators? Because hijab is enforced in Islam countries, then the sex predators must be the muslims, not non muslims.
So, Allah implicitly admits that muslims, his best people, are the sex predators who like to sexually attack women.
OLD GUY says
Yes indeed, and non-muslim/islamic girls and women are their main targets. Just look at who these migrants to Europe and the Western countries are. Mostly young muslim men infiltrating your country looking for your young girls and women.
