KanCare Eligibility Guidelines

KanCare is the State of Kansas' Medicaid program, which is administered by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS). Learn more.

Children

The state of Kansas offers health coverage through KanCare to qualifying children under age 19. KanCare is available to children who qualify for either Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). For families in some income categories, monthly premiums ranging from $20 to $50 per family apply. Learn more about coverage for kids.

Pregnant Women

KanCare is available to expectant mothers who meet eligibility guidelines. The program offers comprehensive health coverage in addition to prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum care. Learn more about coverage during pregnancy.

Parents & Caregivers

KanCare is available to adult, non-disabled, non-elderly parents or caregivers of children younger than 19. Benefits and coverage are the same as those for children in KanCare. Enrollment for adults is limited to those who meet Medicaid eligibility guidelines. Learn more.

Seniors & Disabled

Health coverage and long-term care for people age 65 and over and people with disabilities are available through KanCare. Participants may also be eligible for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) as an alternative to institutional care. KanCare can be used in conjunction with Medicare benefits and covers some services not covered by Medicare, including nursing home and long-term care.
