SHREVEPORT, La. - The name of a Shreveport child killed in a boating accident on Cross Lake on Saturday has been released by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

The accident happened just before 7 p.m. when Jordan McGimsey, 6, was leaning over the side of the boat while it was being docked at a residence in the 5700 block of Cross Lake Point Drive in west Shreveport.
The child was taken to Ochsner LSU Health hospital where she was pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m. McGimsey was a student at St. Mark's Cathedral School in Shreveport. Her parents are Brian and Jennifer McGimsey, owners of Akin’s Nursery and Landscaping on East Kings Highway.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Osborn Funeral Home at 3631 Southern Avenue in Shreveport. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Cathedral at 908 Rutherford.
The incident is investigated by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's office and the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
An autopsy was authorized.
