The GOAT, the greatest gymnast in history, or whatever else we call her, there’s no denying that Simone Biles had a standout performance at the Paris Olympics. But, few can forget how she walked away from the Tokyo games to focus on her mental health. Not only does she set the gold standard in her sport, she is also raising the bar for her own well-being and destigmatizing mental health for the world to take note. Our own Jennifer Birdsall, Ph.D., ABPP shared her thoughts on Simone’s example, burnout, mental health leaves of absence, and more in Fortune. https://lnkd.in/etPW6TzK

Our recent data saw that 38% of depression cases in the past two years were found in workers ages 20-29. Depression is now the fifth most common presenting issue in the American workforce, while anxiety has skyrocketed to the number one issue nationally. I was fortunate to spend time in Chicago this week with the ComPsych team. I always knew EAPs had a lot to offer, but being able to meet the compassionate people behind the scenes made it so much more obvious. The alignment with Guardian' values and priorities further brings awareness to all EAPs can do! If you aren't promoting the EAP services and taking time to fully engage and understand the services, you might have missed opportunities to relieve some stress for your employees.
