🌟 Meet the Keynote Speaker for the CNY Youth Mental Health Summit 🌟 We are thrilled to announce our keynote speaker, Rickey Gregory Jr., MSW, Vice Principal at Brighton Academy, Syracuse City School District. Rickey’s inspiring journey from the James Geddes housing projects to becoming a leader in education showcases the power of resilience and the impact of positive change. Growing up on the West side of Syracuse with a single mother, Rickey faced numerous challenges, including dropping out of school and a cycle of drugs and violence. Despite these hardships, Rickey’s determination led him to earn his GED while at Jamesville Correctional Facility. After his release, Rickey pursued higher education, obtaining degrees from Onondaga Community College and Le Moyne College. He found his calling in helping others facing similar struggles and earned his master's in social work from Syracuse University. As a school social worker, Rickey worked to strengthen cultural competence and community ties, and now as Vice Principal, he continues to champion the youth of Syracuse. Rickey's story is a testament to overcoming adversity and the importance of mental health support.
