We celebrated our DQ employees in Minnesota last week at Valleyfair Amusement Park in Shakopee, Minnesota. We rode rollercoasters, soaked up the sun, and enjoyed a BBQ with our colleagues and families.

Let’s meet our next 2023 DQ Red Spoon Award winner. As a reminder, DQ Red Spoon Awards are given to employees who provide outstanding service, deliver high-quality products, and create positive memories for all who touch DQ. Today, we recognize Nicholas Braun, Proteins Manager. What is your role and what are your responsibilities? I am the Proteins Manager, which means I oversee food safety, quality, and regulation of our protein-based products. What do you like most about your job and why? I love the diversity of products that I work with and the opportunity to see how the global team works together behind the scenes. What does winning this award mean to you? Winning this award is meaningful to me because I truly enjoy what I do and it reminds me to take a moment and reflect on the journey. What do you enjoy doing when you're not at work? My favorite thing to do outside of work is fishing with my kids. Every memory is a keeper! Congrats, again, on your Red Spoon Award, Nicholas!

DQ Cakes are a favorite for special occasions and celebrations, and we offer DQ Cakes around the world. Which cake do you most want to order?

Franchisee Advisory Council meetings are critical to the DQ business. Last week, our Franchisee Advisory Councils in the U.S. and Canada met with DQ team members in Minneapolis to discuss business strategy, marketing, operations and more. It takes a village to prepare for these meetings from council members, franchise owners, corporate presenters, meetings planners, to our R&D team who conducts tastings of products in development. R&D makes all of the product in our DQ test kitchen and, while the flavors are top secret, you can see fun was had by all.

Giving back to the communities we serve. It's baked into our DNA. And it comes to life each summer as many of our DQ corporate employees volunteer at "Camp Gillette" in St. Paul, Minnesota. What's Camp Gillette you ask? It's a unique summer program that brings the essence of summer camp to patients at Gillette Children's Hospital, which cares for children living with brain, bone, and movement conditions needing specialized expertise. DQ employees spend a few days each summer at Camp Gillette bringing activities, arts and crafts, caricature drawings, and even face paint to Gillette patients and their families. It's one of the more fulfilling volunteer opportunities during the best days of the summer.

This week, our first DQ BLIZZARD & Burgers restaurant opened in Shanghai--it's the first DQ restaurant in China and currently the only DQ restaurant in Asia to offer hot food and treats. China is our fastest growing market—we have nearly 1,500 DQ restaurants in China. And the DQ BLIZZARD & Burgers restaurant is our future in the country. Along with our franchise owner, CFB Group, we plan to open 180 new DQ BLIZZARD & Burgers restaurants in China by 2034, including two more in Shanghai by the end of September.
