DEA’s Nicole Parks and Ashley Tarter, Senior Environmental Scientists and Project Managers, attended an Advanced Wetland Delineation course for Transportation Projects in Boise, Idaho. The course, taught by the esteemed Phil Scoles and offered by the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council, amplified their ability to identify hydric indicators and delineate wetlands in challenging soil conditions. Identifying, protecting, and enhancing wetlands is critical for maintaining water quality in our lakes, rivers, and taps. Take a moment to express gratitude to our wetlands for all their hard work to keep our water clean. Happy Water Quality Month! #WaterQualityMonth

DEA's Core Purpose describes our staff's universal and uniting focus: 'to improve the quality of life while demonstrating stewardship of the built and natural environments.' Beyond providing professional services, we engage with our communities through service, contributions to various causes, our internal practices, and more. This week, we're partnering with DonorsChoose to support specific classroom projects in need at schools in our communities in our Second Annual Back-to-School Supplies Drive. Each DEA office will support a classroom at a local school in need. #CommunityService #GiveBack

Today is National Disability Independence Day, which commemorates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) signed into law on July 26, 1990. The day celebrates the anniversary of the ADA and serves to bring awareness and break down barriers that individuals with disabilities face every day. At DEA, we are proud to support inclusive projects like Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District’s Mountain View Champions Park in Beaverton, Oregon. This park features a “Champions Too Field” designed for athletes and children with physical or developmental disabilities, showcasing our commitment to advancing a more accessible and inclusive world. Let's continue working together to create a world that is accessible and inclusive for everyone. #NationalDisabilityIndependenceDay

On National Intern Day, we extend our gratitude to our amazing 2024 summer college interns spread across 14 offices nationwide! At DEA, we're dedicated to supporting aspiring professionals in engineering and related sciences through paid summer internships across our offices and regions. Our 2024 Intern Cohort has been truly inspirational, gaining hands-on experiences in a professional environment. Aside from professional experiences, we've had a blast getting to know our interns through fun social events like ice cream socials, potlucks, and treats on the terrace. Happy National Intern Day from all of us at DEA! #NationalInternDay
