  • Congratulations to Fairview Park Hospital’s 2024 Summer Volunteer graduates! 🎓 Fairview Park Hospital is proud to offer a summer volunteer program for high school and college students. Within this program, students are able to select a department of interest and volunteer with staff to get hands-on and professional experience in a healthcare setting. We had a total of 32 volunteers over the summer, and they collectively served over 600 hours of volunteer time. Departments represented were: Surgical Services, ER, Women’s Services, Pediatrics, Outpatient Physical Therapy, Radiology, Marketing, Inpatient Rehab, Cath lab, FNS (dietician), 6th floor Surgical, and 6th floor Acute Care Therapy. At Fairview, we strive to guide and mentor the younger generation to become our healthcare heroes of the future. We are proud of each and every one of these graduates, and we can’t wait to watch them grow into their careers! Special shout out to William Sterling for being awarded the 2024 Volunteer of the Summer! 🎉

  • Join us in recognizing our July Employee of the Month, Sabrina Hayes! Sabrina is the Storeroom Supervisor in our Food and Nutrition Services department at Fairview Park Hospital. If you know her, you know she will drop everything to help people in need. Here are several reasons why she was chosen for this recognition: - Sabrina is ALWAYS smiling! Whenever I’m having a bad day, I know Sabrina will be there to help cheer me up. She is such an amazing coworker! - She is always willing to help when I need her. She never says no – just let me find out. She is a great person to have in your corner. - Anytime I see her, she’s talking with someone new. She makes all staff feel welcome, and she is great around our patients and visitors. She never meets a stranger! - During Employee Appreciation Month, Sabrina offered to come back in on her time off to help with multiple events for staff. She wouldn’t take no for an answer – she wanted to be there to support our night shift staff. I am so appreciative of her going out of her way to make sure we had enough help. Sabrina – We can’t tell you how much you mean to us at Fairview Park Hospital. You have touched so many lives in so many ways, and we hope that this recognition helps portray how thankful we are for you. Congratulations!

  • Help us congratulate the most recent Recognizing Ancillary Excellence (RAE) Award winner, Kim Caneega, an amazing CT Tech in our Radiology Department! Read how she positively impacted a patient’s life at Fairview Park Hospital: I was seen in the Emergency Department earlier this year, and I had already been seen by the physician and several nurses. Kim came in to take me to get a CT scan, and she explained the possibilities of why I could have needed this diagnostic. She explained every step we took, all while being kind and very professional. I knew it was close to time for her to get off work, but she did not let that deter her at all. She took her time, made sure I was alright and not scared or uncomfortable. When she took me back to my room, she continued to care for me as though she had plenty of time. She hooked everything back up, covered me with a blanket from the warmer and wished me well. Kim was a true caring employee, which I feel strongly needs recognition. I appreciate people like this. I did not tell anyone there that I am a nurse because I don't ever want anyone caring for me or a family member to think I am judging them based on my nursing knowledge. She had no idea and that's a big deal to me. - Patient of Fairview Park Hospital Thank you, Kim, for the attention and care you give patients at Fairview Park Hospital. We appreciate you and all that you symbolize!

  • “Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.” -HCA Mission Statement We’ve never met anyone as passionate as we are about our mission statement until Miss Barbara Daniels rolled onto our Inpatient Rehab unit. Now she leaves having studied it, memorized it, and repeating it to all staff and fellow patients because of the direct impact it had on her. After breaking her hip, Miss Barbara knew recovering away from her home and having no immediate family to go home to for support would be an intimidating task; however, 9 days after surgery she is being discharged able to do everything she did before her injury. She also says that she now knows not having family locally isn’t an issue because she has found family at Fairview Park Hospital ❤️ Check out her full story👇🏻

Join us in recognizing our June Employee of the Month, Cory Stripp! Cory is our Team Lead for our Information Technology (IT) Department, and he has been at Fairview Park Hospital for almost 15 years! He deals with tasks day in and day out, and he is a valuable part of our team. Hear how he positively impacts our culture at Fairview: - Cory is the greatest help with IT issues! He figures obstacles out, and he will not rest until things are fixed. - Cory has been a HUGE help with our employee identification system. He’s researched, ordered, and installed a much needed new printer to make my job easier! - He is often recognized by our Administrative team and leaders for providing exemplary help to staff. He goes above and beyond. - I know a lot of the work you do is in the background. Your ability to resolve issues when they arise and notice a "pattern" of recurring issues is one of the things you do best! You are always "looking for the hole in the bucket" so to speak, and you usually find it. That's a good thing for an IT professional to possess. Keep up the good work! Cory, you are a great team member, and we are proud to have you at Fairview Park Hospital. Congratulations, and thanks for all you do!

Dmarcus Ross, RN, BSN was recently awarded the DAISY Award for his outstanding work in our Emergency Department at Fairview Park Hospital. The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates skillful, compassionate care that nurses provide every day. Not only is Dmarcus a great leader and role model for staff, he is also very perceptive and capable when dealing with sudden and traumatic experiences that come into the ER. Listen how this family member felt about the meaningful difference Dmarcus made in their daughter’s care: “My daughter came to the Emergency Department at Fairview Park Hospital while having an asthma attack. She was nervous and struggling with her symptoms and emotions of it all. Dmarcus immediately came in with such great energy and started a conversation with her to distract her from the chaos around her. He got on her level, made her feel comfortable and not alone. He explained his allergies and asthma that he had, and it made her feel like she was not the only one struggling with symptoms. He asked her about school and made jokes to help her feel happy and comfortable. I have not seen a nurse not only love his job but care for his patients like that in a long time. It was very refreshing, and we are forever grateful to him.” At Fairview, we pride ourselves on our staff, and Dmarcus is a great example of the care we strive to deliver to our community. Congratulations on your achievement!
