It’s amazing to see our interns tackle and succeed with hands-on experiences! Conservation of pollinators is crucial to maintaining healthy ecosystems, and we’re thrilled to have team members like Lexie Gilbert contributing to such important work!
What a cool experience! I spent my morning at a Nebraska Bumble Bee Atlas Field Training at Glacier Creek Preserve learning how to catch bumble bees and identify them in the field. Data from the field is uploaded to a database that allows scientists to track bumble bee populations in Nebraska. I was lucky enough to catch four. I am looking forward to volunteering when I can to help bumble bee conservation in Nebraska ☺️🐝

Over the 4th of July weekend, the Larimer on the Move team was in Red Feather Lakes connecting with community members on what safety and multimodal improvements they would like to see in Colorado’s 9th largest county. Feedback was collected with a priority voting jar activity and on a printed map where the public marked specific locations with their comments and concerns. These community engagement efforts, in partnership with Larimer County, also includes an interactive Social Pinpoint map that has over 400 comments to date. https://lnkd.in/eKdxmqW6

As June comes to a close, we want to acknowledge the importance of National Safety Month in our industry. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of work-related fatalities in the United States, making our commitment to enhancing communities a top priority. Denver South intern Kate Brusoe shares their thoughts on how FHU’s contributions to traffic safety initiatives positively impact our communities and advance risk reduction practices. FHU’s broad multidisciplinary services go beyond the roadway. In honor of last week being Pollinator Week, we want to celebrate the work that our environmental teams do across the country to promote, educate about and secure funding for native pollinators and vegetation. Showcased here is City of Council Bluffs Valley View Park where FHU restored the native habitat and created educational signage. For Iowa Dot Living Roadway Trust Fund, FHU has secured grant funding and works to educate communities on the benefits of native vegetation that supports pollinators.
