With interest rates at an all time high, there's been a noticeable slowdown of US residential solar installations. However, investments in large-scale commercial renewable energy projects continue to grow. Many of these large-scale renewable energy projects in the United States depend on government research and funding. These projects offer ample opportunity for installers and solar EPCs, but they also come with stipulations. Read More Here: https://lnkd.in/gAUGWvqi

You only need to spend a few minutes on a solar Reddit forum to see the mass complaints that homeowners have about the lengthy solar install process, missed communication from installers, or doubling utility rates because of a lack of PTO. Although it seems to be a dying approach, the 'Honest Abe' method of selling projects in solar is still the best way to set realistic expectations with homeowners and potential clients. I talk to dozens of installers every day, and the majority of their workload ends up being client expectation and timeline management: -“I heard my utility will approve my project in a week” -“I was told my utility bill will be cut in half this month” -I was guaranteed the federal tax credit, no questions asked” Utility approval in a week? Nope. You were guaranteed your federal tax credit? I would consult with a CPA or tax attorney to be certain. So many factors come into play when getting the ball rolling with a solar project. Setting real expectations is the best thing you can do as an installer. Don’t cut corners to get signatures on the dotted line.. it'll end up hurting you in the long run. If you're new to the solar game, permitting can be tedious. I'll drop the link to one of GreenLancer's most popular blogs - our tips on reducing solar permit costs and approval times. If you have questions, send me a DM.
