  • On Tuesday, August 6, H2M hosted the championship rounds of our 2nd Annual Cornhole Tournament! Staff from our Melville, NYC, Parsippany, Butler, Wall, and Westchester offices gathered at the Twisted Cow Distillery in East Northport, NY, to support their coworkers, enjoy delicious food and drinks, and show their appreciation for the game of cornhole! Congratulations to Steve Lazzaro and Kyle Wulff from Parsippany, NJ, for earning the title of the 2024 H2M Cornhole Champions! Out of nearly 100 participants, the Parsippany team succeeded in bringing home this trophy for the second year in a row and winning the grand prize: tickets to an Islanders game! Wonderful job to every team that participated in this companywide competition over the past couple of months!

  • Although the Olympics are coming to an end this weekend in Paris, the athletic achievements aren’t ending in Uniondale! The Uniondale UFSD High School recently held an opening ceremony for their brand-new six-lane track surrounding a synthetic turf field striped for football, soccer, and lacrosse. The high school marching band and cheerleading team welcomed the community into the new state-of-the-art complex. Congratulations to the Uniondale Knights on these amazing new facilities!

  • Last night, the H2M Parsippany Office came together to celebrate Elizabeth Steward, the 2024 recipient of the Jeff Janota Memorial Scholarship. • Senior Vice President and Director of Construction Services William Rockensies, P.E., has served in H2M’s mentor program on two separate occasions, most recently as a mentor to Staff Water Engineer Heather Evangelista, EIT. He firmly believes that one-on-one mentoring is essential in any organization and provides it to other staff via H2M’s own in-house program that has been committed to building strong and motivated staff for over 5 years. “By sharing my own experiences, both the successes and the challenges, I'm happy to help young staff navigate their own career paths, offer differing perspectives, and guide them to become H2M’s next generation of inspiring leaders,” Bill explains. With 40 years of experience in construction services, Bill has acquired immense technical knowledge and is well versed in overcoming obstacles. “At this stage in my career, I believe it's crucial to pass on the knowledge I've gained throughout the years. It's an opportunity for senior employees like myself to pay it forward,” he continues. “I feel inspired to pass on these lessons so that Heather and other mentees can learn without boundaries.” Bill’s work of empowering younger H2M employees reflects his remarkable commitment to both our organization and our people. Heather and Bill’s strategic pairing provided valuable education for Heather, who is now well-equipped to tackle future challenges as they arise. As Bill continues to guide and inspire, his experience serves as a reminder of the lasting impact that effective mentorship can have on individual careers like Heather’s.                                 #H2Mmentorship #Mentor #Mentee #Growthmindset

  • Project Spotlight: Dover Armory UST (Underground Storage Tank) System Investigation The Dover Armory is located on approximately 16 acres of land in Rockaway Township, NJ. It is developed with two structures: a two-story armory building operated by the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and a garage operated by the Morris County Municipal Utility Authority. The remainder of the site is developed with an asphalt-paved parking lot, storage yard, and landscaped areas. As part of a Remedial Investigation, Remedial Design, and Remedial Action Contract with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), the Division of Property Management and Construction engaged H2M to investigate seven areas of concern (AOCs) associated with former UST systems at the Dover Armory. Historic investigations at the Dover Armory did not fully characterize or delineate potential soil and groundwater conditions in each AOC to determine if a discharge had occurred. Through the installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, H2M was able to characterize each of the AOCs and determined that soil had not been impacted by potential discharges from the UST systems. As such, H2M’s Licensed Site Remediation Professional was able to issue an Unrestricted Use Response Action Outcome for soil at each AOC related to the UST systems. H2M worked with the NJDEP throughout the project to ensure that Direct Oversight requirements were followed and that no enforcement actions were taken.
