Have you ever wondered how great the view from Mt. Cameron and Mt. Lincoln is? Our power delivery engineering team can confirm — it’s spectacular! 🏔️ These engineers in Denver hiked over six miles roundtrip to reach the peak at 14,293 feet and proudly raised the Kiewit flag at the top. Congratulations to the team for completing their 2nd annual 14er hike!

It’s been a busy few weeks on the Fermi Long-Baseline Neutrino Facility (LBNF) Project! The Kiewit-Alberici JV project team has officially kicked off the building, site and infrastructure phase. Kiewit and our JV partner are the construction manager/general contractors on the project, focusing on outfitting the excavated space with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire life safety, cranes and architectural in preparation for the eventual installation of the experiment detectors. The detectors will be for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) - the world’s most advanced experiment studying neutrinos. Some of our interns with our underground team (pictured below) also had the chance to tour the site and learn about the cool work we’re doing in Lead, South Dakota. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Congratulations to the South Central Light Rail Extension Project team for reaching 900 days without a recordable incident! Recently, our client, Valley Metro RPTA, the City of Phoenix and Kiewit celebrated the safety milestone by organizing a BBQ for our crews. To put it in perspective, the project team worked over 2,000,000 craft hours without a recordable incident. This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, skilled craft workers and valued stakeholders. The team is currently working on extending the existing light rail service by approximately 5.5 miles, adding 12 new stations, an overhead catenary system, five new traction power substations and all the infrastructure required to complete the extension.

The Gross Reservoir Expansion Project team recently celebrated an exciting milestone – building 100 feet of new dam. This is a big step as crews work to raise the existing dam and nearly triple the storage capability for the reservoir. Once complete, it will be the tallest dam in Colorado. Congratulations to the project team on a “dam” good job!

"This involves a lot of effort and requires a lot of tenacity from our team, especially the younger team members who are learning on the job. It’s a rare and challenging project that the team should be proud of.” – Kiewit Project Manager Terence Yang The Ottawa Rapid Bridge Replacement Highway Project is a job that requires precise engineering, exact timing and seamless coordination – all within a tight timeframe. It's along Highway 417, known as the Queensway through Ottawa, and is home to a million residents – serving as a high-speed connection to Montreal. Kiewit has been tasked with demolishing and replacing 11 outdated bridges across five sites. The strategy selected to minimize disruptions to the city's daily traffic rhythms while quickly getting the job done is known as rapid bridge replacement (RBR). Read more on what it takes to complete an RBR in just 82 hours and when the project will wrap up: https://bit.ly/4cI5CrU

From in the office to in the cab – some of our staff employees recently spent a day in the field learning from some of the best, our craft employees. Our team in Western Canada organized an "equipment rodeo" to provide hands-on experience to some of our newer employees to learn more about our core operations and the equipment we use on our projects. Under the supervision of operators, each employee was given a chance to operate an excavator, loader, dozer and crane, as well as learn about the maintenance processes.
