Managing 45+ Shopify Storefronts at OpenStore

🤯 TLDR: Leveraging Rebuy Engine helped increase AOV for one of our brands, Sensory Joy by 35%! At OpenStore, we manage 40+ businesses built on Shopify. One of the ways we optimize the site experience when we’re onboarding a new brand is by applying our tech stack to the business to make optimizations. Rebuy plays a key role in this process throughout the customer journey. Here are some of the ways we’ve used Rebuy for our portfolio: Jack Archer: With Jack Archer, we use Rebuy’s SmartCart to power the shopping cart, in-cart cross-sells, and gifts with purchase—a critical part of our evergreen offer. These optimizations have helped increase the brand’s average items per order by introducing buyers to new products they otherwise might not have considered. Next up, we’re excited to test the tiered progress bar which offers multi-tiered rewards for adding more to your cart! Sensory Joy: For our children’s brand Sensory Joy, we use a number of Rebuy widgets including the Smart Cart, in-cart upsells /cross-sells, and dynamic bundles, which have boosted AOV by 35%! My favorite offer here is the add-to-cart cross-sell popup, which offers a complimentary item to our best seller on your way to the cart. Buy Secure Mat: I’ve written about this one before, but it’s too good not to share again: post-purchase upsells are a no-brainer. For Buy Secure Mat, we implemented one which offers you an additional mat just like the one you already bought at a nice discount. This upsell converts over 12% of the time! These offers are low-risk profit drivers so there’s no excuse not to be running them! If you use a lot of apps to manage your business’ storefront, or if you own multiple Shopify businesses, it probably makes sense for you to use a personalization engine like Rebuy to standardize your storefront(s). In a world of rising customer acquisition costs, every incremental dollar generated on your site goes a long way on the march to profitability. Rebuy is a great choice to help you get there. Keep an eye out for more information on the other tools we use to manage our businesses in the coming weeks! And head here for more information on how we run our brands: open.store.

    Strategy & Operations at OpenStore

I lead influencer marketing across 40+ brands at OpenStore. Over the last 18 months, we’ve grown this channel from nothing to over 5% of our company-wide contribution profit. Here are 5 influencer marketing tips for eCommerce brand owners, based on my experience: 1. Crafting the Right Offer: Our influencers have said they prefer cash, free products, and commission (in that order). In return, we typically ask for a grid post and/or multiple stories on Instagram. There can be some bartering here, so understand what you’re willing to offer to make it work for both parties. Hint: Free product + really deep commissions (think 25%+) tends to stand out if you’re not willing to pay cash. 2. How to Find Influencers: There are some creator discovery tools out there, but I love Facebook’s Creator Marketplace since your DMs get placed in a priority inbox. Be careful just looking at follower count. Make sure you consider an influencer’s engagement rate as well (we typically look for 1%+ and use a Chrome plug-in called Updog to verify). Hint: Your Instagram DMs are also a great place to source authentic creators! 3. How Many Influencers You Need: At OpenStore, 10% of our influencers drive 80% of our revenue. I recommend experimenting with lots of creators to figure out which ones are working, and then doubling (or tripling!) down on those that work. Not all of your top performers will be obvious at first, so test as many as you’re comfortable with. 4. Measurement & Attribution: There’s a lot of discussion on what is the right primary KPI (ROAS, CPM) for influencer marketing. I’d recommend ROAS but also consider brand awareness and the value of UGC created. Use custom discount codes and UTMs for attribution (you can also consider a post-purchase survey). 5. How to Utilize UGC: The content from influencers is a gold mine. Use it for owned social media, paid ads (including whitelisting), and your storefronts (great social proof!). Don’t forget about usage rights! We use Archive to collect our UGC. These are some of my observations — what do you think? Comment your thoughts below! Margot James, a performance marketer for a suite of 40+ Shopify brands called OpenStore Support, said the Shop Campaigns have been a valuable tool to bring new customers in. It’s been a place to experiment, she said, at a time when other channels are getting more expensive or underperforming. “It’s a unique way of getting your brand out there,” she said. “It’s such an easy campaign, so it’s like why not use it?” - Melissa Daniels, Modern Retail
