A small nuance in consumer motivation can have big implications on a brand or product strategy. If you found out your target audience was using your brand or product for something different, something deeper than you realized, how might it change your strategy? 🤔 In a recent study on dating apps, we found that 8% of people joined them to combat loneliness. 💔 Now 8% isn't a big number. Unless you consider that we did not actually ask about loneliness OR why people join dating apps. Last week South African's voted, and the ruling ANC party of Nelson Mandela lost its majority for the first time since the end of apartheid. Before the election, we shared sentiments coming out of our annual #AfricanYouthSurvey for the Ichikowitz Family Foundation, "As South Africa stands on the brink of its elections, the message from its youth is clear: they seek a government that can redirect the nation towards a more promising and equitable future. Their votes will reflect not just their current frustrations but also their hopes for a better future." Well, the votes have been cast, and we see now the seriousness of these concerns. As South Africa moves toward the upcoming election, the youth will be watching closely. Younger South African adults are increasingly concerned – but not yet pessimistic – about the future of their country. PSB Insights recently conducted a comprehensive study into the perceptions, aspirations, hopes, and dreams of South Africa’s youth on behalf of the Ichikowitz Family Foundation. This research, tracking trends since 2020, provides insight into the mindset of young South Africans as they prepare to cast their votes in the upcoming elections and mark 30 years since the end of Apartheid.
