Wrapping up the week on a high note! 🌟 Our amazing interns have been working hard, so we decided to treat them to a well-deserved break. We had a blast at the SF Giants baseball game and soaked up some sunshine to recharge our batteries. Shout-out to our incredible interns, their managers, and our dedicated people team.

“China’s advantage in clean energy manufacturing comes down to an investment in manufacturing infrastructure, including both physical assets and skilled labor. For America to achieve independence and success in the new energy economy, we need to build massive production capacity in our own country.” Chris Dougher our VP of Operations penned an op-ed in Utility Dive about what’s needed to advance U.S. leadership in clean energy #manufacturing – and it’s not just infrastructure and equipment, it’s skilled talent. In Moses Lake, we’re partnering with Big Bend Community College and Columbia Basin Technical Skills Center to develop a robust talent pipeline. Through these programs, students have an opportunity to go from graduation right into the #workforce with entry-level skills that can be further developed on the job. We’ve already hired new graduates at our plant and we’re dedicated to the continued development of our local workforce. Read article: https://lnkd.in/gPyp9Wjm

The commissioning and ramping of our Moses Lake manufacturing plant is a significant milestone, and helping to lead in those efforts is our Director of Engineering, Maik Duwensee, Ph.D. Maik is an engineering visionary with more than a decade of experience leading large-scale production projects with a focus on enhancing quality, reliability, manufacturability, and safety. Maik has spent several years at some of the world’s most innovative companies including Apple, Tesla and Uber. Now, he’ll join our team in Moses Lake to help prepare the plant to begin production in late 2025. Maik, who was born in a small town in Germany similar to the size of Moses Lake, is also looking forward to the opportunity to become a part of a tight-knit community and help support local workforce development and growth. Maik Duwensee, Ph.D is looking to build a strong team of engineers ready to join our mission to power the world’s transition to clean energy. Interested in the challenge? “We're never going to out-compete them in a race to the bottom on cost with conventional battery materials. We need to be investing in next-generation products that can leapfrog the status quo.” Last week at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Global Energy Institute's Critical Minerals Summit, our Head of Government Affairs, Alex Fitzsimmons, joined industry experts and government officials to discuss how new battery technologies and policy reform can reduce our domestic reliance on critical minerals from Chinese-dominated supply chains. #energysecurity #criticalminerals #supplychain
This week, I represented Sila Nanotechnologies, Inc. on a panel for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Global Energy Institute's Critical Minerals Summit. In a wide-ranging discussion, the panel focused on bolstering the U.S. critical mineral supply chain through technology innovation, trade policies, market signals, and permitting reform. Thanks to the Chamber's Ruth Demeter Hayes and fellow panelists Congressman John James, Wayne Palmer with the Essential Minerals Association, Richard R. with the National Mining Association, and Michelle Michot Foss with the Baker Institute Center for Energy Studies (CES). #energysecurity #criticalminerals #supplychain
