⭐ Studio71 Spotlight: Samir Asthana, Director, Business Development ⭐ Samir leads the OTT department at #Studio71, overseeing distribution efforts across VOD, FAST, and CTV platforms. His responsibilities include negotiating licensing opportunities with platforms such as Roku, Amazon, and Pluto TV, making deals with creative talent for distribution rights, and managing OTT distribution operations. He also collaborates with his team to develop creative marketing strategies and distribution verticals to maximize viewership and engagement. He first started here in 2022 as an associate director, originally tasked with optimizing VOD and FAST operations. He quickly improved offerings by implementing new programming and asset management strategies, significantly increasing the performance of creators’ series. Within a few months; Samir took on more responsibilities, prospecting and pitching new platform opportunities, which led to his promotion. Samir’s flexibility and adaptability to a constantly shifting entertainment landscape has been instrumental to his success. For others interested in the industry he encourages focusing on the 'growth' areas where there's a lot of momentum: "Being early to what becomes 'the next big thing' has a lot of benefits and is generally one of the more exciting things to pursue. Staying up to date with industry trends and events is incredibly valuable for finding and assessing new opportunities.” One notable highlight of his career has been the recent launch of a Roku FAST channel for one of our biggest gaming creators. This channel launch was the culmination of years of work from the #OTT team and has shown promising early metrics in viewership and engagement. “To see that success with a single-IP FAST channel of a digital creator, really highlights how digitally native content can truly compete with more traditional studio fare. ⭐ Studio71 Spotlight: Michelle Robinson, Director, Business & Legal Affairs ⭐ At #Studio71, Michelle serves as the Director of Business and Legal Affairs, where she supports the company’s strategic objectives! Her responsibilities range from business strategy, to insurance, employee training on legal matters, cyber security risks, data privacy, and reviewing agreements to ensure compliance with standards and regulations. Her journey here began during the pandemic, when streaming content was at an all-time high. Over the past three years, she’s witnessed and contributed to the company’s adaptability and growth amidst industry shifts. “This helped me learn things outside of legal, like the technical aspects and functionality of both visual and audio streaming platforms.” Michelle’s ability to navigate a broad spectrum of legal issues, as well as effectively communicate them, has been instrumental to her success. Her advice for others? “Always keep learning and stay informed with legal issues and trends associated with content consumption in all different formats.” For Michelle, the most rewarding aspect of her job is the opportunity to collaborate with all the teams within the organization, learn from them and contribute to the overall success of the company. “I get to do something different every day and that keeps things interesting!” Join us in celebrating all of Michelle’s contributions, and her three-year work anniversary this week!
