Looking for an experienced consumer reporter to join the team. Senior business, consumer, money or news rep would work. It'll be a lot of exclusives, plus the daily beat. It's not FinTech or the markets. More what everyday consumers can do to save money - pocketbook issues. Salary and PTO detailed in the ad. It's also News Corp, so very solid benefits, plus you'll be in the same building as the WSJ - so plenty of room for development within the wider business. Has to be New York, not fully remote (although we do run a hybrid schedule). Apply via the ad or hit me up with questions. #journojobs #journalism #jobs #consumer #money

Like a gifted full-back inverting to midfield. Welcome to the news cycle, Sophie.
I've officially moved from the Live Blogs desk to News at The US Sun . Although I'll miss the team, I'm excited for this next chapter! I want to thank Mollie Mansfield for being such an amazing mentor and all of the blogs team for fostering such a positive environment. Of course my first week on news happened to be one of the craziest of the year with the assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the Republican National Convention, President Biden's diagnosis with COVID-19, his decision to withdraw from the race, and Vice President Harris accepting his endorsement in his place. Check out some of my coverage below! https://lnkd.in/ed_bMD5s https://lnkd.in/eDDTxA5r https://lnkd.in/eshpjaeY https://lnkd.in/ekwwXccf

David in the trenches with the Baltimore Ravens. #NFL #Ravens #pilates
Sports Reporter at The U.S. Sun. Graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. Bachelors in English Writing.
Last week I had the opportunity to interview Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers in a unique scenario. After speaking with Zay, he took me through a Pilates workout as an example of how he trains during the NFL offseason. It was some of the most fun I've had while conducting an interview, and it made for some great written and video content for The US Sun ! Speaking at the Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University as alumni was a top-tier moment, especially representing The US Sun . I look forward to mentoring these students as they navigate the college-career process.
PART 2: DAY 4 of Washington Journalism & Media Conference: Following those presentations we did a Newsroom Simulation. I got paired with a partner and we created a pitch for a “newspaper” using the Axios Smart Brevity method. We got to emerge into a new light of journalism. It helped me to understand how to keep the audience engaged and consider the relevance of every part of a story. We then prepped for our Career Exploration Sessions, which I requested and was able to hear from the talented Eli Wohlenhaus, an Executive Editor of Digital Content & DC Military Publications, at APG Chesapeake. He shared examples of his work and what it takes for each aspect of his job. Hearing how he got to where he was today was inspiring. I was able to ask him how he used his elements of marketing he had mentioned, to the magazines, newspapers, and more he now creates. He is very strategic and specific with his work, which I believe is what makes his work so great. I could tell he is so careful and thoughtful with the work he does, which is nothing less than amazing. After the presentation we had our Networking Mixer! All of the speakers were out and eager to meet and speak to us Nation Youth Correspondents. I was honored to have been able to speak to the beautiful and talented Nadgeena Jerome, a Senior Lifestyle Reporter. What drew me to wanting to speak to her, was how she herself was in the industry of entertainment, like being in pageants, a model, and more, was covering all aspects of the entertainment industry. As someone like me who had danced for over 11 years and knows the behind the scenes of being an entertainer like a dancer, I am drawn to all regards of covering the entertainment industry, or even being behind the scenes. I was able ask how she had been able to connect being already in entertainment, to now covering it at the U.S. Sun. She shared to me how knowing those people already in the industry have been able to be a big help. Whether it be a backstage assistant to a big designer, with her connections and networking, she gets an upper hand. In our conversation she expressed how important it is to make good impressions to every single person you meet, because they could eventually be a future reference, or a help to you in some way. Her experiences truly inspired me, not only as a student, but also as an entertainer within dance and photography. We have 2 more days at WJMC! Getting closer to the end, I am excited, but also so grateful for all of the people I’ve been able to meet and connect with. Last full day tomorrow! Happy 2/3 of the way through WJMC!! 💙💙
