“This is a significant achievement, and represents a game changing capability that would greatly enhance a host submarine’s organic sensing capability and enable high risk missions to be conducted more clandestinely and at standoff range.” – via Maritime Reporter and Engineering News HII is proud that two of HII’s advanced capabilities — the Virginia-class submarine USS Delaware (SSN 791) built by Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII and the REMUS medium unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) built by HII Unmanned Systems — will be operationally deployed together to enhance the mission capabilities of the US Navy. Rise and shine! ☀️✨ Here’s a throwback of the silhouette of USS John F. Kennedy (#CVN79) welcoming the dawn of a new day during a sunrise from a tugboat at Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII. Kennedy is the second Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier under construction at NNS, which is the nation’s sole designer, builder, and refueler of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.

August 4 marks 234 years of the U.S. Coast Guard! HII is proud to support the nation’s oldest continuous sea service by providing the U.S. Coast Guard with the venerable National Security Cutters (NSC), proudly built by Ingalls Shipbuilding, a Division of HII. Pictured is the Ingalls-built USCG Cutter Waesche (WSML 751). This brave crew completed a highly-successful 112-day patrol with the US Navy in the Indo-Pacific. Waesche was assigned to Destroyer Squadron 15 in the U.S. Seventh Fleet. While deployed, Waesche’s crew strengthened maritime governance and preserved maritime sovereignty alongside our U.S. allies. The cutter stopped in Honolulu, Hawaii, yesterday en route her homeport in Alameda, Calif. Bravo Zulu to the Waesche crew and best wishes on a safe journey home! And Happy Birthday, U.S. Coast Guard!! 🥳 #SemperParatus

Days’ worth of work in just 60 seconds of video. Check out this time-lapse video of shipbuilders at Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII, rigging and installing a 200,000-pound generator on US Navy aircraft carrier Enterprise (#CVN80). Like all Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carriers, CVN 80 will be equipped with four emergency generators that provide backup power. How cool!

Reporting for duty at RIMPAC! US Navy aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (#CVN70), built by Newport News Shipbuilding, A Division of HII, and delivered to the Navy in 1982, leads a group sail off the coast of Hawaii during RIMPAC 2024, the world's largest international maritime exercise. Another cool fact? HII built seven of the 10 U.S. ships - in addition to one out of the four U.S. support ships and one of the two submarines - participating in this year's exercise! 📸 : US Navy
