The anticipated hiring range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000. Hiring offers will be determined based on the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. The recruiter can share more information about what the anticipated hiring salary would be based upon your specific qualifications during the selection process.

Position Summary

The Assistant Director – Admissions is responsible for overall recruitment strategy and enrollment of prospective students for The Culinary Institute of America with a focus on the Culinary Institute of America’s (CIA) California Campuses. The Assistant Director assists in supervising recruitment events, activities, and outreach for national student recruitment for California Campuses.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development and implementation of a student recruitment plan that will include communication outreach, campus events, recruitment travel and personalized contact.
  • Communicate with prospective students through phone, email, text, and other types of personalized communications to guide and manage their advance through the admissions funnel process.
  • Conduct CIA presentations to groups of students, educators, parents, and other influencers to share information about CIA and build relationships.
  • Form relationships with key CIA Alumni, educators, and student supporters to support CIA recruitment and assist with student recruitment events.
  • Coordinate, plan, and execute campus events to assist in student recruitment.
  • Oversee student review process including making decisions about whether students should be admitted to the college. Communicate with admitted students to encourage enrollment and enlist support of other CIA departments. For applicants who present unusual and/or legal issues, consult with supervisor to determine final admissions decision.
  • Manage operational and recruitment expenses to approved budget.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on status of accomplishments and activities.
  • Interview, hire, and train California Admissions Counselor, as necessary.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

Education

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience

  • Two (2) years of Admissions Recruitment experience.

Licenses / Certifications

  • Driver’s License required with no more than one (1) moving violation in the past year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four (4) years of Admissions Recruitment experience.
  • Master’s degree.

Required Skills

  • Must display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills required. Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct presentations with professionalism and confidence.
  • Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment and maintain collaborative relationships with all members of the team.
  • Strong computer experience, which must include MS Office suite products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Exceptional organizational skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
  • Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
  • Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
  • Ability to travel based on business needs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry 50 pounds with assistance.
