This position is based out of our San Francisco office and open to a hybrid schedule once onboarding and orientation is complete.

Role Overview

Walker Warner is looking for a highly motivated and proven Communications Manager to help establish and execute the communications strategy for the firm. In close partnership with the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Communications Manager will have an exciting opportunity to create original content, strategically lead PR efforts, and work closely with all levels of the organization to help us execute on our communications strategy. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who also enjoys rolling up their sleeves and jumping into the work, is a strong writer, tech-savvy, flexible, enjoys working as part of a team, and is excited about helping us market our incredible staff and the work we accomplish together.

Primary Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Director of Marketing & Communications, design and execute the communications strategy for the firm
  • Lead all internal and external communication efforts for the firm, including:
    • Partner successfully with the Marketing Manager to create and maintain firmwide marketing collateral
    • Craft and edit all marketing materials and project narratives that convey our brand's messaging effectively (i.e. written presentation materials to support new business opportunities, written presentation content for design community events, etc.)
    • Generate original content that aligns with the brand's voice and objectives
    • Ensure that all external communications align with our established branding and messaging guidelines
    • Provide support for internal communication efforts, assisting in choosing the most appropriate communication channels to engage our team
  • Own the end-to-end awards submission process by playing a pivotal role in enhancing our awards strategy, conducting thorough research on awards programs, and creating a strategic plan to ensure selected awards are applied to on time and thoughtfully marketed if awarded
  • Oversee all written aspects of the firm’s website to ensure content remains up-to-date, relevant, and in alignment with brand standards
  • In partnership with the Marketing Manager, create and execute a comprehensive social media strategy and calendar to engage our audience effectively through written content; maintain current knowledge and ability to execute on the latest social media trends to help inform and refine our social media strategy
  • In partnership with the Marketing Manager, strategically lead all event planning (e.g., book signings, open houses, home tours, speaking engagements, etc.) and explore strategic partnerships (e.g., lectures, juries, interviews, conferences, sponsorships, etc.) that support our PR initiatives
  • Establish and maintain a communications strategy and calendar for the firm, coordinating with other departments and functions to ensure key stakeholders and other firm business is not in conflict with communications efforts
  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with the firm's PR firm, as well as other external consultants, including writers, editors, graphic designers, etc
  • Perform regular, accurate reporting of social media, website analytics and PR programs working with external PR firm
  • Establish, execute and maintain quarterly newsletter and email marketing campaigns
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (i.e., architecture teams) to obtain written content approvals and generate marketing collateral (i.e., fact sheets, project descriptions, awards descriptions, etc.)
  • In partnership with the Director of Marketing & Communications, lead photography and videography efforts, including image selection and maintenance of our visual assets

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years experience working in a communications and public relations capacity ideally within the A/E/C or related industry
  • Passionate about communications with a desire to stay current and aware of emerging trends; a passion for great storytelling and the ability to communicate messages in a compelling way
  • Confident, self-motivated, and proactive, with proven ability to effectively take ownership, organize work tasks, and manage multiple deadlines through to completion
  • Extremely detail oriented with a proven track record of managing multiple, potentially conflicting, priorities through to completion
  • Ability to efficiently and flexibly move with the pace of the business when completing tasks and responsibilities; proven ability to problem solve and generate multiple possible solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in both a remote and in-person team environment to meet deadlines and efficiently prioritize work while adapting to a variety of working styles
  • Must possess strong computer software skills with proficiency in Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel at least 10% of the time, with advanced notice, to assist with coordinating firm events

Compensation And Benefits

Walker Warner Architects offers a competitive compensation package including fully paid health benefits for employees, profit sharing, employer 401(k) contribution, generous paid time-off and flexible spending accounts, plus so much more.

The 2024 hiring base annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $135,000. Any offer of compensation will be determined by a candidate’s education, skills, and experience as assessed during the interview process.
