Scope of Job

Our technology was developed at Caltech, deployed with research partners like NASA, proven-out with customers like Netflix and Children’s Hospital, and now scaling to fleets, corporations, and municipalities nationwide.

The Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring their projects are completed safely and meet all quality standards outlined by PowerFlex and the customer. This role will work closely with the Project Team and the Subcontractor to observe and document any issues on site. The Construction manager will provide support to the Project Manager along with other members of the PowerFlex team during critical on-site activities.

Location

This role will be supporting projects in Central California (San Francisco, San Jose, Stockton, Modesto) so we are looking for someone that resides in that area for easy travel. This role is not required to be in-office and is open to be 100% remote in Central California (San Francisco, San Jose, Stockton, Modesto) or a hybrid role out of our Mountain View, CA office.

Responsibilities

95% - Solar & Battery Project Activities

  • Support On-Site Construction
    • Monthly Site Safety Inspections
    • Monthly Quality Assurance Inspections
    • As needed support during critical activities (Crane Lifts, Shutdowns, Open Trenching, Etc…)
  • Work with Sub-Contractors to ensure open observations and punch list item are being tracked and remediated.
  • Provide feedback to Project Manager regarding schedule, quality and safety.
  • Create and update Procore Observations and Punch Lists.
  • Communicate effectively with Subcontractor Team
  • Organize and maintain project documents related to the construction phase in project management software.
  • Submit project related reports (as required).
  • Represent PowerFlex on site for exploratory and interconnection shutdowns.
  • Flexibility and openness to changing work environments.
5% - Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
  • 5+ years' experience in construction management in the industrial electrical services and construction industry required
  • 5+ years’ experience installing commercial solar systems required
  • Experience in Commercial PV Solar/Batter storage preferred. Ideally hands-on experience installing multiple types of commercial renewable energy technologies.
  • C10 preferred
  • Knowledge of Civil/Structural a plus.
  • Electrical License a plus

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Our CM’s act as our liaison in the field and PowerFlex’s representation on-site. Coordinating with our subcontractors, customer, and internal project team is the most important part the job.
  • Must be able to work with our subcontractors to ensure systems are built to our standards, and be able to reinforce the idea that our subcontractors are our installation partners, and an extension of our company.
  • Intermediate to Advanced computer skills. Procore, MS Office – (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Understanding of engineering in electric power.
  • Professional, dependable, customer service oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task in in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
  • Prioritizes work activities and time efficiently
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete tasks efficiently
  • Self-starter who can complete tasks and manage responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Detail oriented - demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness to ensure work quality.
  • Strong initiative and ability to problem solve.
  • Valid state driver’s license and maintain clean driving record

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $81,000 - $135,000 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.

Physical Requirements

  • Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics and tunnels.
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 80 pounds regularly
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Must be able to safely climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
  • Must be able to work in cold environments and on concrete floors.
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.

Working Conditions

Weekend work and travel (80% of the time) is required to address project and customer needs. 20% of the time will be spend in-office or in a home office. Field visits require potential standing, walking, and able to document/measure existing conditions. Otherwise, normal office environment. Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
