The Director, New Stores, Fixtures & Projects is an instrumental role that serves as a consultative and strategic partner in the execution of large-scale Company’s strategic capital initiative goals. Through their teams, made up of exempt, non-exempt, and third-party contractors, the individual is responsible for setting up new retail locations that meet brand standards. Additionally this role will be responsible for overseeing the Fixture Design, Fixture Procurement and the Quality teams related to fixtures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hire, train, mentor, develop, and retain staff while cultivating a collaborative, creative, results-oriented work environment.
  • Direct the development of training and education classes throughout the year for continuous people and team development.
  • Develop and establish standard operational workstreams and guidelines across the RIT team
  • Establish and Manage 3rd party relationships for labor resources
  • Direct the review and monitoring of new, relocating, and strategic initiative projects for compliance to the company’s standards.
  • Strategize with key stakeholders to understand the related business strategies, objectives, and priorities, while ensuring alignment in supporting the current business strategy
  • Manage the budget across multiple line items for the purpose of building out sales floor and merchandising plans for New, Relocating, and Merchandising Initiative stores as well as direct the ongoing spend analysis and deploy needed decisions to ensure actual expenses incurred remain at or under the budget.
  • Approve Capital Expense Requests for strategic initiatives, providing necessary business cases, waivers, and bids, etc.
  • Lead cross functional groups through discussions to continually improve and streamline the New Store, Relocation Store, and Merchandising Initiatives processes.
  • Lead the team to ensure deadlines, budgets, and standards are continually met ensure the maximum number of sales weeks are captured.
  • Lead and direct the deployment of competitive solicitations reviews (RFP/RFQ) and ultimately the testing and selection of vendors that will ensure costs are kept within budget and requirements are met.
  • Review and approve all installation expenses to be aligned with labor budgets


Required Qualifications

Experience: 10 years of leadership experience. 7-10 years of retail, project management, field experience, or related experience required. Past accountability and success in achieving company new store or remodel goals across metrics of productivity, timeliness, cost, and quality of work to meet or exceed brand standards.

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Professional Certifications: Not required, any of CCM, CPBEP, PMP, PMP encouraged

Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities

  • Existing knowledge of active Merchandising/Reset companies, brokers, and other retail professionals
  • Exceptional organizational negotiation, presentation, metrics, and project management experience and capabilities.
  • Proven experience in developing strong relationships to gain support and achieve results.
  • Demonstrated results through strong project management skills, results orientations, and strong follow through.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, communication, organizational skills, and executive level presentation abilities.
  • Strong organizational, negotiation, metric/analytical, and project management skills.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team of people at various levels, exempt, non-exempt, and third party
  • Knowledge of merchandising build outs for new stores and remodels, budget planning, forecasting, and general financial planning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of related terminology and practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Effective time management while handling multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
