We are searching for an experienced individual with a strong track record in leading software process quality efforts to ensure that the Aurora Driver product and services meets or exceeds our quality standard. This individual will be in charge of developing and implementing quality management for both automotive and self driving system customer requirements. They must be adept at developing and implementing quality strategies, policies, and guidelines for organizations responsible for both engineering and deployment. This candidate must also be skilled in providing expert guidance on quality engineering best practices and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards.

In this role, you will

  • Be accountable for working across the organization to design and implement quality management appropriate for ASPICE process model assessment in the self-driving domain.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to support quality standards conformance through both enterprise and department level quality strategies, policies, and guidelines.
  • Provide expert guidance and oversight to cross-functional teams on software quality engineering best practices and standards, emphasizing assessment, analysis, and quality control strategy.
  • Participate in technical evidence review, provide technical or policy consultation, and support investigation activities.
  • Engage in issue investigation and root-cause analyses, support corrective action formulation to prevent recurrence or resolve anomalies.
  • Provide training and advice to engineering teams performing analysis in support of processes and analysis.
  • Tailor quality processes for organizational, operational, and product-oriented applications as they apply to product requirements.
  • Champion coordination and collaboration with various departments to develop and implement quality-related policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Represent Aurora in external engagement activities with partners, stakeholders, and regulators.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, math, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Significant experience (7+ years) in software quality leadership; direct experience in software quality process implementation and management is crucial.
  • In depth understanding and experience with cloud based software development tooling and development practices
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards, quality standards, and best practices in safety critical domains including ASPICE
  • Experience conducting quality assessments to identify potential risks, gaps, and vulnerabilities in the scaling and commercialization of software and hardware systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with legal and policy considerations related to safety and quality in a safety-critical domain.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to provide guidance and mentorship.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Prior experience in automotive, robotics, transportation, aerospace, or any adjacent safety critical industry
  • Working knowledge of ISO26262, ISO9001, ISO21434
  • Experience in developing process and training materials, including LMS contributions
  • Experience with Jira, Jama, Confluence, AWS

The base salary range for this position is $194,000 - $311,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
