Dynamics Engineering Associate

Element U.S. Space & Defense has an open position for an entry level Engineering Associate. Following specific Element U.S Space & Defense Standard Operating Procedures, safety policies, and industries specifications, the Associate Engineering is responsible for managing test programs consisting mainly of dynamics testing.

Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Management of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Provide technical guidance, quoting support, and project management support
  • Coordinate customer scheduling requirements with NTS department managers
  • Interface between NTS technical personnel and customers
  • Review/approve test data to assure adherence to customer and NTS quality requirements
  • Setup and performance of Vibration, Mechanical Shock (i.e. SRS) and Acoustic tests
  • Monitor tests per specifications, interact with customers if needed
  • Data collection utilizing vibration control systems, thermocouples, and accelerometers
  • Analysis and verification of test setups, test levels and requirements
  • Troubleshooting and buildup of test fixtures, test configurations and electrical setups
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Self-motivated, dependable, and responsible person requiring little direct supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving skillset
  • Excellent people skills, must be strong team player and willing to adapt as necessary
  • Ability to tolerate stress and work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Excellent computer skills required; knowledge of Microsoft Office programs is required
  • Proven ability to learn at a fast pace with minimal training
  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
  • Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude

Minimum Education And Experience

  • BS Mechanical Engineering / Physics Degree required; MS Degree preferred
  • 2 years of experience operating electrodynamic vibration systems
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD810, and/or RTCA-DO160 test methodology LabView programming experience is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • General office and test lab environment with exposure to sudden, loud noises

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
