Job Purpose

The position will require work across IAC’s regions and with the with the Foundation Relations team to oversee IAC's foundation-related fundraising plan. The position is national in scope, part of the Programs team and requires a highly-motivated, independent and entrepreneurial professional. The National Director of Foundation Relations will report to the VP of Development.

Duties Include And Are Not Limited To

  • Direct institutional fundraising including research grant opportunities and engage with new and existing foundations.
  • Build relationships with foundations, federations, and professionals through meetings, correspondence, and regular communication.
  • Work with CPO to develop an annual foundations relations plan that includes measurable goals, metrics and specific strategies for expanding both levels and sources of support.
  • Develop strategies to strengthen relationships with current funders and to identify and build relationships with new prospects.
  • Ensure foundations are engaged with IAC’s work and understand IAC’s impact by creating engagement opportunities.
  • Build internal organizational relationships with program staff to acquire a broad and deep understanding of the programs to identify strong matches with current and potential funders.
  • Work with the regions and national programs directors to ensure IAC is submitting regional grants regularly including assisting with writing grant proposals.
  • Work with the regions to ensure regional directors and managers communicate effectively with regional foundations, including providing talking points, templates and other communication strategies.
  • Review program materials used for communications and marketing to ensure consistency, quality, accessibility, and branding.
  • Liaise with marketing team on communications and marketing materials for all programs.
  • Draft and oversee the creation and submission of high-quality and timely proposals, grant requests, correspondence, impact/stewardship reports, and other documents to support best practices in foundation relations.
  • Conduct research to identify foundation prospects for both the organization as a whole and for specific programs that align with the organization’s strategic direction.
  • Gather and share information about trends in philanthropy – especially in the areas of Jewish and Israel-related topics – which may be of value to IAC.
  • Ensure all grants are tracked, including application and reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain regular reporting and ensure income reports are reconciled with the Finance team.
  • Participate in organization events and programs, representing IAC.
  • Must participate in all IAC National events and staff training (as IAC National Summit).

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA is a preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant fundraising experience is required, foundation experience preferred.
  • Strong writing and research skills.
  • A proactive, energetic attitude.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Action oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications skills.
  • Flexibility with schedule (occasional evening and weekends).
  • Proficiency in CRM.
  • Hebrew proficiency is a preferred.
