Client Overview

Our client seeking a Junior Accountant is a New York-based public relations and marketing communications agency.

Salary/Hourly Rate

$20/hr – $23/hr

Position Overview

The Junior Accountant will be involved in supporting the month-end close process, performing reconciliations, assisting with financial statements, and applying GAAP to help ensure that transactions within the organization adhere to ethical and operational policies and procedures. The client is seeking someone who can support the accounting team with day-to-day tasks and who has some experience in public accounting.

Responsibilities Of The Junior Accountant

• Perform accounts payable procedures, including coding and recording vendor invoices
• Review expense reimbursement requests from employees and client employees
• Review monthly credit card expenses from employees and client employees
• Onboard new vendors, ensuring all required documentation and spending limit approvals are in place
• Generate weekly AP reports and contribute to the weekly AP payment process
• Prepare the tax payment according to the schedule
• Perform accounts receivable procedures, coordinating with account teams on billing schedules
• Code and record daily client cash receipts
• Ensure timely billing processes, matching purchase orders (POs) and Statements of Work (SOWs) / Contracts
• Assist in managing client SOW/PO data on the portal
• Generate weekly AR reports
• Adhere to the closing calendar, assisting in preparing monthly closing schedules, tasks, reconciliations, and journal entries
• Prepare monthly operational reports and necessary supporting schedules
• Prepare and issue 1099s at year-end
• Compile, verify, and analyze financial information for senior management to support strategic and operational decision-making
  
  

Qualifications For The Junior Accountant

• 1 – 2+ years of experience working in Accounting
• Proficient in Excel
• Not currently working and open to Temp to Perm
  
  

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required
