We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in fashion apparel, wholesale and retail accounting. The role will be in-office 5 days a week and will be based in our midtown Manhattan corporate office.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily accounting operations of the company.
- Compile and analyze monthly financial information to prepare JE’s and balance sheet accounts reconciliations, including resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts, with emphasis on AR and Inventory accounts.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Support the Controller in the monthly closing process and identify critical items.
- Help in the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package.
- Assist with Budget and Cash Projection preparations.
- Participate in external audits, including preparation of audit schedules, and work with external auditors to ensure timely completion of audits.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles and company standards, controls and policies.
- Proactively identify areas of opportunity /weakness and recommend solutions.
- Assist with special projects, department goals, and other ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Prepare and file tax forms and other administration forms as needed.
- Provide support to the CFO, Controller and other members of the finance team as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in apparel, wholesale, retail and manufacturing/cost accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and reconciliation skills.
- Solid organizational, multi-tasking, prioritization and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Self-starter; proactive in learning and finding solutions; find/suggest improvements to processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management and customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Strong technical ability in major ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Dynamics365, SAP).
