I see the movement. The movement of women realizing the importance of supporting and empowering other women. Especially in professional work settings. Yesterday my post was pretty vulnerable. I shared my experience of being bullied, gaslit and manipulated by a female leader. I felt lost, unsupported and worthless. My confidence was shot. I questioned if I was even qualified to do the same job at another company. I've used that experience to fuel a different type of leadership - a style that not only focuses on empowering women, but also lifting them up and giving them opportunities to shine. I often seek out organizations and women who think like me and those that want the same things for other professional women. So imagine my surprise when I attended the Customer Contact Week Las Vegas event in June, and saw that there was an entire track of content dedicated to CCWomen (Customer Contact Women), an organization started by Sandy Ko Fonseca, focused on the women in the Customer Contact world. At a HUGE conference, with thousands of attendees, there was an entire track of content, including panels, sessions and workshops, dedicated to connecting, empowering and educating these amazing women. I've never seen this before. Ever. It was so refreshing. I left that event feeling inspired and motivated and would love to see more organizations do the same to create these safe spaces for women to learn and grow alongside one another. If you’re a woman who would like to be part of the movement, here are some things you should be doing: 1. Consider Mentoring 2. Amplify Voices 3. Build NetworkS 4. Advocate for Fair Policies 5. Celebrate Success 6. Practice Empathy and Support 7. Lead by Example Let’s all be the change we want to see. Congratulations Sandy, you’re doing special work for the community and they appreciate you for it. What are you doing to empower, uplift and support other women? I’d love to hear how others are showing up to support our future leaders.
