Chandeliers
We believe home design should be stylish and distinctive. Whether pining for the polish of a contemporary chandelier or looking for a more traditional statement for your entryway, a chandelier is an element that helps augment a space, making it personalized to you. Here at Lulu and Georgia, our thoughtfully-curated collection of modern chandeliers is perfect for your home, blending form and function beautifully.
A dining room or lounge chandelier can transform a lackluster living space, instantly elevating the tone with a brilliant light source and eye-catching design element. From opulent brass fixtures to laid-back natural chandelier designs, the range of styles available lets you shop for the perfect profile and finish for your decor in a size that fits the dimensions of your space. This versatility enables you to set off your aesthetic with a statement chandelier that offers showstopping impact or choose a living room chandelier as a central element to build your decor around. With a piece as dynamic and focal as this, it is essential to understand the fundamental principles of how to style it.
Not sure what style fits your aesthetic and home best when searching for chandeliers? Don't worry. We have got you covered. Check out a few tips below on inspiration when browsing and styling tips as you shop our curated line of chandelier designs.
Choose the Right Chandelier for Your Room
Even though a hanging chandelier light sits above a room, it is still essential to incorporate it into the overall look and feel of the space. As with any significant element, you will want to consider how accents and decor echo the finish and tone of the material throughout the room and how the fixture design reflects your aesthetic.
Sconces and pendant lights both feature prominently in a room's aesthetic, but large chandeliers, more than any other light fixture, lend themselves to creating a focal point in a room. Consider beginning with a chandelier you love and building the decor around it, like finding a geometric rug or polished coffee table to style with the dramatic lines of a living room chandelier for dramatic ceiling to floor unity. Chandeliers, pendant lights, and sconces often come in similar styles and collections so that you can establish a lighting motif throughout a space for a sense of refined balance. Still, you can also style a chandelier as a standout feature piece.
Define Your Look with a Signature Chandelier
We often think of elaborate, baroque styles when picturing chandeliers. Modern chandelier designs go beyond the opulent maximalism of years past, blending traditional notes with sleek lines, natural textures, and daring silhouettes to offer a bold feature for any look. Consider some of the styling options below to look for the perfect piece to buy for your space.
Strike an Effortless Balance with a Natural Chandelier
A natural chandelier can be a rich textural layer in a fresh and casual look. From a rattan light fixture to a woven chandelier featuring an unfinished edge or seagrass weave can inspire refined appeal while reflecting other natural elements in the room. We love how this woven Chavette Chandelier offers organic warmth with an elevated feel by incorporating jute fibers into a tiered design.
Add Polish and Poise with a Modern Chandelier
A sleek design can help you create sculptural allure from floor to ceiling. Try styling a modern statement chandelier over a kitchen island or long table for an eye-catching element with an artful edge. A black chandelier with a streamlined silhouette can offer a tone-setting yet understated appeal in an edited space. Our Nari Chandelier provides a tailored fit for a modern, refined look with clean lines and a glossy finish.
Transform a Transitional Space with a Statement Chandelier
Nothing breathes new life into a room like a feature lighting element. Many chandeliers borrow silhouettes or design notes from traditional, ornate designs and reimagine them with signature touches. A statement chandelier styled into a transitional or thoughtfully eclectic space is a great way to tie traditional and modern elements together. The Del Chandelier pairs the ornate symmetry of a classic design with the grounding natural touch of a birch wood finish for a timeless balance.
Finding the Right Size Chandelier for the Room
Another essential element in shopping for chandeliers is finding the right size for your space. Large statement chandeliers can seem awkward and overbearing in a smaller room or as a dining room chandelier. In contrast, a small black chandelier or light fixture, which may be perfect for an apartment or cozy space, can seem underwhelming and flat in an open-plan or larger room.
The general rule for sizing a living room chandelier is to take the width and length of the room in feet and add them together. After changing the unit to inches, this sum is approximately the size of the chandelier you will want. So, in a 10' by 15' room, a chandelier fixture should be about 25" in diameter. You then want 2.5" to 3" per foot of the room's height. So you can simply take the room's height in feet, multiply the number by three, and change the unit to inches. In a 12' high room, you want a chandelier about 36" in height.
A dining room chandelier is typically styled directly above the dining table. In this case, you want a fixture about two-thirds the table's width. This will be about a foot less than the width of most dining tables. While a large fixture can offer plenty of eye-catching impact, you might consider styling two smaller chandeliers over a larger table for symmetrical appeal.
Whichever way you decide to style it, remember that a chandelier allows you the flexibility to showcase the nuances of your design aesthetic. A well-placed lounge chandelier or a chic duo over your dining table can reinvigorate your decor with a bold overhead statement. Flawlessly refined designs help add a dynamic dimension to your space. Be daring and intentional with your aesthetic by choosing lighting elements you love.
