Owner Worries About Cat While at Work, Not Prepared for What Pet Cam Shows

A post about a worried cat owner who was relieved to discover what their feline has been up to via a pet camera has gone viral on Reddit.

The cat's antics were captured in a viral video shared under the username Able-Button198 and has had 11,000 upvotes since it was posted on July 3. The footage shows a white-haired cat sleeping on a human bed. The feline is shown slumped over on its side on a pillow before it's later seen lying on its back.

A caption shared with the video reads: "I went to work and felt worried about my cat, so I checked the camera and saw my cat sleeping very comfortably. I suddenly realized I was the one who needed attention."

The poster is not alone in worrying for their pet. Owners are showing more concern for their animals since the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a March 2021 survey conducted by market research firm OnePoll, in partnership with Banfield Pet Hospital based in Portland, Oregon, one in three people said they got a new pet during the pandemic.

As COVID-19 restrictions were lifted and workers began returning to the office, many people had to leave their pets alone at home while they went to work.

The March 2021 survey found that around a third (32 percent) of owners said they contacted their veterinarian for advice about making the transition back to work easier on their pets.

The survey also found that around one in two people from Generation Z and one in three millennials said they would consider looking for another job in the post-pandemic era if their workplace was not pet-friendly.

'So Relaxed'

Reddit users adored the sleepy cat in the viral post.

AlbinoSnowmanIRL said: "He has chosen to sleep your pillow, probably because it smells the most like you."

Cautious_Platform_40 noted: "That cat is so relaxed and comfy, you must be an excellent pet parent."

BlippitySkip said: "That cat is sleeping like it's at a 5 star resort.."

EnderMoleman316 noted: "That is the most comfy cat I've seen in my life."

Unfair-Public-1754 agreed, saying: "That is one cozy looking kitty," and serity12682 said: "That cat is so happy."

Newsweek contacted the original poster via the Reddit messaging system for comment. This video has not been independently verified.
