Biden's Interview, Kendrick's 'Not Like Us' Video, Plus What to Watch This Weekend

It might be a holiday weekend, but the news doesn't stop and we've got you covered. Just like the rest of the country, the main question everyone is asking in Hollywood is what will President Joe Biden do? Major Hollywood donors are pressuring the president to drop out of the race after his disastrous debate performance last week. In an effort to save his political future, Biden will sit down for a huge interview with George Stephanopoulos Friday night on ABC.

We're in one of those rare moments where national political news becomes entertainment news, because this seems to be the one story everyone keeps talking about. On one hand you've got celebs like Bette Midler rushing to support the president while Joe Rogan is–to nobody's surprise–very team Joe Biden needs to drop out.

Because this is the thing everyone is talking about, I'm doing the same thing on the Parting Shot podcast. Today I'm chatting with Jenni Fink, Newsweek's Senior Editor for Politics, to get her take on everything that's going on. Listen to that wherever you get podcasts.

In the meantime, here's what else is poppin' in the world of pop culture...

  • Kendrick Lamar is getting the last word in his beef with Drake. (Well, until Drake inevitably does something to make it worse.) On Thursday Lamar dropped a music video for "Not Like Us," his previously released diss track that has low-key become the song of the summer. The video is packed with not-so-subtle messages to Drake that is bound to make Drake angry. If you watch one thing this weekend, watch that video. Warning: it's NSFW.
  • Vanessa Hudgens gave birth to her first child, and she's angry... at the paparazzi, not the kid. TMZ posted photos of the baby, Hudgens first with husband Cole Tucker, which made the actress and singer mad. She posted to Instagram, "We're disappointed that our family's privacy was disrespected and exploited during this very special time due to the greed of a long lens camera feeding the media... Despite all of that, mom dad and baby are happy and healthy." Yeah, that's not cool at all, but also like not a surprise? I mean, if you're a celebrity, shouldn't you just expect this? Perhaps plan for it? Just sayin...
  • Mindy Kaling offered a rare glimpse of her child, a first for the actress and writer. In a post to Instagram, Kaling shared a photo of her youngest child, Anne, 5 months, that showed Anne's ear and foot. That's the most we've ever seen of her three kids–she also has a son, Spencer, 3, and Katherine, 6. Kaling has been very protective of her kids over the years, which you've got to respect.
  • Finally, let's talk about what to watch this weekend. Besides that, Biden interview Friday night on ABC, you've also got to watch Eddie Murphy's make his big return as Axel Foley in Netflix's Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. That's legit going to be the movie of the weekend. Also in theaters is MaXXXine, the final film in the horror X trilogy. Of the two, I'm going to watch MaXXXine first because it looks so good. (Well, I'm going to watch the Biden interview first, then MaXXXine.)

That's it for me today. Keep scrolling for more great stories. I'll be back on Monday! Have a great weekend.
